Becoming a champion, wasn’t his goal, it never had been. Neither was it, to become the most powerful pokemon trainer in the entire world. Those were mere stepping stones on his path.
To become the very best, like no one ever was. To surpass all those who came before him and would come after.
A simple toss and the forked twig shot high into the air.
The greatest master of pokemon.
There were still so many places he hadn’t seen, so many people he hadn’t battled, so many pokemon he hadn’t seen never mind befriended yet. Until he did, he was still so ever far away from becoming a true Pokemon Master.
The twig landed. His next path, chosen.
‘My journey isn’t even close to being over yet.’ Ash grinned widely as he headed down that new path, his best buddy as always atop his shoulder, his constant and everlasting companion.
The adventure continues.

Just a little drabble tribute to Ash Ketchum now that his time as the main character of the anime officially ended today. He's had his ups and down, mostly downs in the last few years for me, but he made my childhood great and I never would have even gotten into writing myself if not for him.
Sayonara Ash, it's been real.
