The Fairies Tail - Chapter 4
Added 2022-04-09 17:18:04 +0000 UTCSurprisingly, with Macao's help, it was incredibly easy to get a small, but comfortable apartment. Right across the room in fact, from an old member of Fairy Tail's room, who went missing during the Tenrou Island fiasco, but someone kept paying for her home for her regardless.
The landlord was a gruff, no nonsense plump older woman who demanded money up front and demanded again that you pay on time, and that she was sick of people always failing to pay her on time.
An annoying attitude, but reasonable set of demands that you were fine to agree to.
After that, Macao went on his way and let you get settled in for the night. Requip magic was pretty handy, all of the furniture you'd 'liberated' from your quarters in the Rune Knights, including your massive, incredibly soft king sized bed could just be deposited where you wanted with it.
You got things set up in your new apartment, much of your furniture being magical items that you again 'liberated' from the Rune Knight's when you left. Then, you turned in for the night to get some sleep.
Sleeping was an activity you generally enjoyed quite a lot. It helped pass the monotony between missions when you were a Rune Knight after all. There wasn't much you could do to enjoy yourself with all those dreary guys about.
In the morning, you planned to quickly take care of the other two A-rank missions, then see about doing what you could to improve the guilds reputation.
There really was no insta-fix for being the lowest ranked guild in Fiore, except for winning the Grand Magic Games, and it was a whole nine months away not to mention while you were amazingly powerful, you couldn't take on and defeat all the top mages of Fiore by yourself.
..It sure would be fun to try though.
Most of your new guild were still out on jobs right now, and wouldn't be back for the next few days. So honestly, there wasn't really much you could at the guild besides socialize.
And yeah, while you had fun doing that, finding Master Macao and Wakaba and their perverted ways funny, and got a laugh out of Max lamenting what Kinana told him was his sixth shoot down when asking a girl that out this week, you were too eager to rise to the top.
Honestly, the challenge of pulling the lowest guild up to the top sounded like something worth achieving and would be an adventure in of its own.
So before noon even rolled around, you took the last two A-rank missions and went on your way, thankfully, after Max told everyone how strong you were, they were fine to let you handle it on your own.
The missions thankfully weren't too far apart either. The Lizard's had set up a base of operations along the train track towards the port town of Hargeon, while the WereTiger's were travelling through the forest path towards Clover from Akane Beach.
With your movement technique, it didn't you very long at all to race out of Magnolia and down the train tracks towards your destination
And you came upon your target merely sitting atop a rock face. You slid to a stop, peering up at the lizardman. It was said by the groups of mages that faced them, that there were multiple and that they ambushed them, copying their a magic as they did.
But, as you let your senses broaden out, you could feel none, but the power of the the lizardman standing above you.
It was odd too, unlike normal Lizardmen, this one was dressed in clothing. Wearing baggy pants and a dark blue hoody. You'd been warned that it was probably leftover creations of a mad scientist named Daphne that Fairy Tail tangled with seven years ago.
But, while it felt stronger than the average mage, and with the ability to copy magic for a brief time would probably trounce most, it just didn't register as a threat to you.
"..Another human come to try and take my head?" it suddenly talked, in a deep male voice, and sighed almost sadly, "Very well, come, but do not think I will go down quietly." it continued, standing up and suddenly the air rippled around its hands with the telltale signs of Requip magic, and a pair of swords deposited right into its hands.

"Aera!" It cried out, and suddenly long, angelic white wings burst from its back and with twin beats of the large white feathered appendages, the lizardman shot itself towards you, spinning through the air at first and turning towards you with a rapid, powerful double bladed slash.
What did it mean? You shook your head, no time to think about it right now you supposed! You tensed your legs, rooting yourself in your spot and shaped your magic, black and silver light exploding from your back and forming into ten massive tentacles made of compressed sea water that shot up to meet the rapidly descending lizardman. "Sea God's Kraken!"
It had little time to react, most B-rank mages wouldn't be able to react in time. But somehow it did manage to counter, a bit. It slashed its swords out, releasing twin arcs of magic compressed into green energy blades that cut right through two of your tentacles, still in its spin, it lashed out with its long, thick tail with thick black bladed spikes running along it and slashed through another one, before biting through another as it completed its rotation.
It took down four of your tentacles in the blink of an eye, but that was all, as it did the rest of your tentacles slapped into its limbs, wrapping around its ankles, wrists, stomach and neck and holding it aloft.
"Damn!" it cursed, snapping out with its jaw and trying to bite at the one around its neck with razor sharp teeth.
"This shouldn't kill you with how tough your scales are," you commented, winding your arm back and edging your hand out into a bladed shape before slashing your arm through the air towards it, "Sea God's Slash!" you shouted, releasing a massive blade of finely compressed black sea water.
But, just as the massive blade of water cut off your vision of the lizardman, and was about to hit, you heard a very familiar sound. It sounded like someone glugging down massive amounts of water.
Suddenly, the blade, and the remaining tentacles were dragged away from you, and towards the lizardman as it was suddenly released, its mouth open wide as it devoured your magic!
"That was a close one," the lizardman commented, eyes serious as it landed on the ground and eyed you cautiously, "Powerful, much more powerful than any mage that has hunted me before, possibly even as strong as my origin, if it wasn't for your own magics ability to devour any water attack, I would have been defeated then and there."
What the! It copied your magic that fast!? Unreal! Despite the setback though, you felt a grin creep across your face and your blood boil with excitement, "You're a strong one aren't you?" you commented. You put that little comment about its origin in the back of your head for now, since from what you know, these guys were all made to copy a specific Fairy Tail mage in the beginning.
And you had a good idea who this guy was made to copy from its abilities with swords.
"As are you," it responded with an almost respectful nod, "Still, I cannot allow you to defeat me and take my life. I must live on and carry the hope of my bretherern."
So the others of its species are dead then? That's a sad story.
"I'm sorry to hear that, what a waste of such strong opponents," you shook your head, "Now though, you've got my blood pumping, so don't disappoint!" you shouted, shooting forward towards it.
"I won't!" it retorted, slashing out its twin blades and firing another large pair of compressed green energy blades at you. Smart of it not to just fire your own magic back at you which you could devour, despite your magic being much more powerful than the one it could use naturally.
"If you can eat my magic, I just wont use it then!" you shouted, grinning. Turning side ways, you dodged between the two energy blades, grinding your feet along the ground before pushing off again.
"Arrogant of you!" the lizardman retorted, pushing off to meet you, blades at the ready.
The lizardman came in first, thrusting one blade out towards your chest, targeting the largest and central part of your body. Grinning still, you lashed out with an uppercut, layering a slight barrier of your magic over your fist and punching the blade upwards away from you.
The lizardman roared as its arm wound back hard, and on a weaker opponent would have come right out of the socket. But it didn't falter, instead it lashed out with the second blade in the shadow of the first, swinging around towards your side.
You quickly spun around it just before it dug into your flesh and lashed out with a spinning back fist that caught the green scaled humanoid in the jaw and lifted it up into the air from the force behind it, sending it spinning. It felt like hitting steel!
Even as it shot up into a spin backwards from your blow, it lashed out itself with a roundhouse kick using its momentum that you just managed to tilt your head back enough for it to brush your chin and no more.
You shot forward, even as it shot its blades out to catch itself, stabbing them into the ground and bleeding off its momentum in an instant.
You jumped into a knee strike, but just as you were closing in to hit it, its head shot up and from its mouth, the lizardman release released a wide, beam of green energy from its mouth.
Eyes widening, you thrust your hands out and created a glowing blue barrier to block it, the force behind it pushing you back dozens of feet as it impacted your barrier before you dug your feet into the ground and redirected it into the air.
"That was almost like a roar or bellow attack." you noted as you let the barrier around your hands dissipate.
Panting, the lizardman stood up from its crouched position, pulling its blades from the ground easily, "Indeed it is based on a dragon slayer's roar attack," it explained, very forthcoming, "I once copied a dragon slayer's abilities. I lost them not long later as I usually do, but I remembered how the abilities were used. It took time, but applying the way my origin used raw magic energy to create energy blades, I created my own version."
"Roar of the lizardman huh?" you couldn't help but begin clapping, you were deeply impressed. This is no mere animal, it- no, he by the sound of his voice, is as intelligent as any human, "No, that sounds like too much of a dragon knock off. Lizard's Howl fits better I think."
"Lizard's Howl? As good as name as any I suppose," the lizardman responded, shrugging his shoulders, and then readying his blades, "Prepare yourself human, now I will come to you!" With another flap of his wings, the lizardman shot through the air towards you, both blades tips pointed out towards you in a skewering formation.
This time, you shot forward yourself to meet the lizardman. As you did, you held your right hand out and the air shimmered as your personal blade from your time as a Rune Knight - which you were supposed to give back but didn't bother - appeared from your Requip space and landed in your palm.

The biggest problem right now was his reach with those swords when you were limited on your magic usage. And while your Heat Blade wasn't a big a blade, more a short, thick blade favoured for heavy slashes, it still increased your reach by a good two feet.
It was a sword you favoured mostly because you hadn't yet worked out how to increase the temperature of your Sea God attacks. So using it in conjunction with your magic let you imbue the magical ability of the blade into your magic and super heat the sea water into scalding levels.
Instead of slashing out with the sword though like anyone normally would, you turned just as you were about to clash blades with the lizardman and caught the double slash he unleashed with the thick golden flat of your blade.
The Rune Knight's were little help when it came to training your magic, but they did have many weapon users, mostly sword wielders, and everyone was well versed in hand to hand combat.
Stopped in his tracks and unable to land the twin stab he was going for, the lizardman grunted and pivoted on his feet, lashing out with his wings this time, and you noticed in your peripherals, that the edges of his wings were glowing with familiar green power.
He could fire those energy blades with his wings too!? Awesome! But, not fast enough.
Channelling your magic through the Heat Blade, you directed a burst of flame out of the side that caught the green scaled humanoid's blades. He roared in pain as his front was roasted and he was blown backwards.
That was the good thing about magic tools. Rune Knight's got the good ones, and they were generally dependent on the competency of the user. And you were very competent.
"Chance!" you yelled, grinning widely. Using your Sea God's Burst along your feet, you shot forward much faster than any time you had in this fight yet.
Then you threw the arm holding your blade out, propelled forward by another set of Burst's! You threw your sword so hard it shot out of your hand like a bullet and rocketed towards the lizardman.
Flying backwards, face up, the lizardman had barely any time to react. He flapped his twin wings hard, and just managed to swing his blades up into a cross guard as the red hot Heat Blade made contact.
"Raagh!" the lizardman roared, using his wings to align himself properly again, and push against your thrown blade. The force behind your thrown attack continued to push him back a good few metres before he dug his feet into the ground, digging up small trenches and redirected it into the air.
Too bad for him though, he didn't break it! You closed the gate on your Requip space sending it back, and then pulled it back out into your grasp in an instant.
Just as you reached the lizardman, following in the shadow of your blade which he had just managed to redirect, and was still looking for in the air. Realization appeared in his eyes, but it was too late.
Coating your hand in your barrier magic, you lashed out and drove a devastating punch into his stomach, driving spit from his mouth, fanged teeth bared to the world. The swords fell from his grasp, even as your knuckles throbbed and took damage through the barrier, you were lucky he was wearing that hoodie or your knuckles would probably have been ripped and gushing blood.
Those scales were no joke!
Your punch lifted him up into the air, but even bereft of his breath and weapons, he lashed out with the arm nearest to you, claws growing bright green, "Lizard's Iron Claw!" he roared, thrusting his fingers straight for your face.
Using Burst once more from one of your feet, you gave yourself a sudden momentum to spin around the attack and grab his attacking arm, which you promptly dragged around and up behind his back in the standard arresting technique and drove him face first into the ground, hard.
Your sword stabbed right into the ground beside his face a second later just as he went to lash out with his wings and he stopped, releasing a sigh. "It is your win human." he conceded defeat. He already knew you could have stabbed him in the back of the head and killed him then.
The fact the realized that near instantly told you just how great his combat instincts were.
