Infinite Ice Ring - 1.1

"-So  I'd like you all to give a warm welcome to Faeran and help him settle in," Ochi-sensei said to her class, "He's new to Japan, so do your best to give your best impressions, kay?"

The bespectacled school teacher lifted her hand and motioned at the teenager standing at her side in front of the classroom, "So Faeran, anything you want to say to your new classmates?" the brown haired woman asked looking at him, "Something about yourself perhaps?"

Faeran, a young stocky teenager with short spiky dark hair grinned at her, "Sure sensei, it's customary to explain the meaning of your name here right?" he asked.

Or at the very least, it was in a bunch of anime he'd seen.

Ochi-sensei shrugged, "I suppose so." she replied.

Faeran nodded before looking out over the class, his eyes lingering on some specific people amongst his new classmates, particularly three, two with orange hair, for very different reasons, and a short girl with black hair, "So my first name Faeran it means Descending, while my middle name James means along the lines of Supplanter or Conqueror," he happily explained to his classmates, "As for my family name Odhar, it means Son Of The Dark One. All together, my name roughly means 'The Descending, Conquering Son Of The Dark One', pretty scary sounding huh? Though you guys can just feel free to call me Faeran, no need to use my family name." he tacked a little cheeky wink on the end.

His explanation of his name got a few chuckles and giggles from his classmates and even the teacher snorted in amusement.

"Quite the lofty name," Ochi-sensei shook her head in amusement before pointing at the back of the room where a seat right next to the window sat empty, "Well, take a seat there at the back Faeran so we can begin classes, if you need any help to follow along just let me know."

"Will do sensei, cheers." Faeran flashed her a thumbs up and did as she said. As he made his way to the back of the class his eyes met that of a slender youth with navy hair that he passed by who gave him a sharp, odd look and then quickly looked away after their eyes met.

'Oops.' Faeran's lips quirked up a bit. Looked like he still didn't have the best hang of suppressing his spiritual power.

As Ochi-sensei began lecturing, he only listened with a half ear. It was thankfully English class, and he didn't need any help with that. He looked out the window to his side and in the reflection of the glass a huge serpentine dragon of dark coloured ice and glowing crimson eyes looked back at him.

'Perhaps if you spent more time refining your abilities as a shinigami instead of playing with that stupid mask you somehow received alongside me, it wouldn't be a problem.' Hyorinmaru lectured with a scoff.

Faeran chuckled inwardly and scratched his cheek sheepishly, 'Come on, don't be such a sour puss, trying to memorize all those chants for kido just turns my brain to mush mate.' he replied.

Hollow powers on the other hand were so much easier to use. Getting a grasp of them was instinctual and he just loved Cero's. Neither he nor Hyorinmaru even had any idea how he got hollow powers in the first place mind you. But he wasn't complaining, especially when he didn't have something as annoying as an inner hollow trying to yoink his body.

Hyorinmaru huffed and rolled his eyes, 'I suppose you did manage to get a few of them down which is impressive for a mere two weeks,' the ice dragon grudgingly admitted, 'And the Quincy is hardly a threat with how pitifully small his spiritual power is.'

Exactly. Besides, it wasn't like he was completely ignoring learning the shinigami arts in favour the hollow powers. He wouldn't have even been able to procure himself a house, money to live on or even attend this school if it weren't for the kido Hyorinmaru had passed on to him from the knowledge his former wielder had gained within Soul Society.

Well  at the very least. It seemed they had a decent amount of time to prepare. Faeran's eyes drifted over to a long glimmering mane of beautiful orange hair.

Orihime Inoue. He could sense spiritual power from her. But a pitifully small amount, barely any more than the few plus souls he'd come across since arriving here. Which was good enough proof for how early he'd arrived.

His eyes left the back of the shape orangette and landed on the back of the head of Rukia Kuchiki. Her still being in the class was also a good indicator, especially because he could only sense spiritual power a little above Orihime's own from her.

The biggest indicator of when he'd arrived though. The proof for that was all in the only other orange haired person in the class. Ichigo Kurosaki.

He had by far the most spiritual power in the classroom. And removing himself from the scenario, the orange haired boy had far far more than even that of the entire school population added together.

Yet, it was not as large as his own. Kusaka, the former wielder of his zanpakuto had been dying when he came across Faeran and had lost a lot of his power and in the process had only managed to pass on three quarters of his full spiritual power to him when he stabbed Hyorinmaru right into his heart.

Yet even without the full power of Kusaka, his spiritual power was a good decent bit larger than Ichigo's own.

'Hmph, the way you speak it is as if Kusaka was actually weak, my former wielder was easily on the level of the captains,' Hyorinmaru scoffed, 'By your memories alone, he was quite far above Toshiro Hitsugaya and a few other captains you know of. Even missing a quarter of his power, you are still in the same realm of spiritual power as one. And that's not including that silly mask you somehow absorbed as well.'

True, true. Though; 'It's not like the mask gave me much power, sure it gave me access to hollow abilities but there was barely any power in it at all,' Faeran pointed out, 'It was literally just the mask of a hollow your former partner killed and wore on his face as a disguise.'

Honestly, it really was weird. When Kusaka had transferred his shinigami powers to him on the brink of death. He'd been taken in by the mask he wore atop his face, he'd always been fascinated by the Vizard's and Ichigo's Hollow powers.

And during the transfer, somehow the mask the man had been wearing ended up within him alongside his Zanpakuto.

As the bell rang later and signified the start of the lunch period, Faeran found his desk surrounded by a few of his new classmates.

"So Faeran, what's up dude?" a familiar brown haired teen was the first to talk to strike up conversation with him, "What brings a foreigner here to little old Karakura Town? And where are you from actually?" Keigo asked.

"I'm from Scotland mate," Faeran answered casually as he leaned back into his seat, "And the reason I came here? Well, I learned Japanese when I was young and needed a change of scenery after a few family problems so decided on here and Karakura seemed a nice enough place as any."

It wasn't completely a lie. He was still young, only fifteen and so what if he only knew Japanese because of Hyorinmaru. And he did technically have family problems, on the account of him not having any anymore.

That did suck mightily.

"Oh," Keigo blinked, before grinning widely, "So Scotland huh? Isn't that the place where dudes where skirts?"

"They're called kilts and they're not skirts." he reflexively replied, eyes narrowing lightly.

Keigo looked away with a cough while another person scoffed. He was pushed aside a moment later and a slender girl with short dark hair took his place, "Don't mind this idiot Faeran, a day doesn't go by where he isn't stuffing his foot in his mouth," Tatsuki Arisawa cut in, "So what are you into? Got any hobbies? Any sports you play?" she asked, changing the subject herself.

"A few," Faeran chuckled, she wasn't really his type, but he wouldn't deny Tatsuki was pretty good looking, "I'm big into football, err soccer here I guess and I love video games. Beyond that, I'm trained in muay thai kickboxing." he added on at the end, he figured that would win him some brownie points with her.

If the way her dark eyes lit up and a grin appeared on her face were anything to go bye, he was right, "Muay Thai eh?" she leaned forward placing her hands on his desk, "I wouldn't mind testing out how tough you are then, I'm pretty good when it comes to karate!"

Faeran grinned right back at her, "Sure, just give me a time and place I don't mind whooping you." he teased.

Tatsuki's eyebrow rose, "Oh, is that right?" she hummed and stared at him challengingly, "Well how about we hit up the gym now then and see how well you st-"

Two slender hands landed on her shoulders and pulled her away from the desk, "Tatsuki-chan, don't go dragging him into a spar on his first day!" Orihime pouted at her, "Besides it's lunch time and I want to try out my newlyt invented dish."

Tatsuki huffed and rolled her eyes, "Yeah yeah, sure," she agreed easily enough but not before pointing at Faeran, "You're not off the hook though, I'll kick your butt another time."

"Anytime, any place." he stuck his tongue out in response.

Orihime giggled at the interaction between both of them, "Well  Faeran-kun, if you want you can join us for lunch as well, you don't have anyone to sit with right now, right?" the orange haired girl beamed at him invitingly.

Faeran managed quite well to keep his gaze from falling to her chest now that she was close up and facing him, instead looking into her grey eyes, "Sure, I'm all for it, thanks Inoue-san."  he replied.

"That's great, then c'mon we're going up to the roof!" Orihime happily replied and made to turn around before pausing, "Oh, and since you're letting us call you by your first name, you can just go ahead and call me Orihime!"

"Yeah, and just call me Tatsuki!" her short haired friend cut back in, "It wouldn't do fort he guy who's ass I'm gonna beat like a tambourine to be all polite like that."

Faeran snorted, shaking his head from side to side, "Alright, Tatsuki and Orihime it is yeah?"

As he made to follow them out of the classroom, a shout followed from behind them, "Faeran what kind of evil beast are you!?" Keigo bawled, "You've only been here a few hours and getting invited to eat with the girls, you monster!"

Faeran looked over his shoulder at the brown haired boy just as he reached the door frame and was about to step out of it, "It's because I'm a manly Scottish lad who wears kilts." he smirked at him before disappearing through the door and leaving the class.
