2023-11-16 05:35:26 +0000 UTCSo, I rewatched, and I only found one spot where you might be thinking of it, but I think you may have misinterpreted Holly. Is it about sleeping with costars? She was basically saying Alyssa was better at the romantic acting side of things, and she (as in Holly) could never fake those scenes. Then immediately says, “not that I’ve slept with all my costars, as Brian can attest to.” I think she said the last part to clarify that because once she said she wasn’t good at “faking” it, she probably knew ppl would think she wasnt faking it and had something going on w her costars. I heard it as against Alyssa at first, but when you take it line by line, I don’t think she meant Alyssa slept with all of her costars, but was degrading herself and her inability to fake the romance side of acting. That being said, there was plenty of other Alyssa shade. They basically went from calling Phoebe/Alyssa dumb to next second praising Shannen 🙄 If that’s not the scene you meant, please message me and maybe i can narrow it down! 🙂

2023-11-16 00:06:16 +0000 UTCThere’s been a LOT of subtle shade towards Alyssa. Alicia pointed out to me that it’s not even subtle in this ep, so I’m rewatching to listen for it. But they’ve made dig after dig about Alyssa. The only nice thing they’ve really said is about her visiting Holly in the hospital. They have a ton of positive remarks about Shannen, and even Rose, even though she’s not in the series yet. Alyssa was a big part of Charmed, and most of us loved her/phoebe. It almost ruins the nostalgia and comfort of our fav show to hear her be shaded like this. Ruins the illusion that was the sisterhood of the show.

2023-09-28 23:08:54 +0000 UTCYou need to get the Blu ray version of the series. They honestly did an amazing job of changing to HD and 16:9 (I think it is) aspect ratio. They made a boxed set that came out in Germany that is the book of shadows with it as well so if you have a region free Blu ray player you could get that one. It is very pricey though so I just have the separate seasons that released in the US. The music really does make a huge difference. Watching the HD feels like you’re watching a current show a lot of the time. I highly highly recommend to everyone (plus the Blu Ray’s have the original music. Peacock does have the HD version of the show, but has the stick music). (I’m just slightly passionate about this topic. It’s fine. 😂)

Glad I switched I missed the legit theme song! Now this episode, I forgot there was like 3 different storylines in this episode. I'd give this about a 8/10. I do enjoy this episode, I like that they for the most part all three storylines came together in the end.

The music doesn’t suck too much once you’ve heard it a gazillion times. But one episode in season 8 on tv still has all the original music it was weird to hear it after so long.

From Amazon though not sure if Amazon Canada or Amazon USA. There were limited copies I believe. There are pictures just like in the book of shadows, very cool!

2023-09-03 01:17:32 +0000 UTCI have the DVDs (in the limited edition Book of Shadows thing although it has the Halliwell Matriarchs spell from the season 5 ep with the Necromancer and its mixed up with the Truth spell). On season 8 it has the end music on the opening titles but the rest of the music is as it’s supposed to be. I rewatch Charmed every year starting in January - it’s my tradition. But I’m watching via streaming for this podcast because I wanted to see what was different and yeah I’m totally joining the chorus of people saying the music changes suck. It was particularly annoying in my fav Prue-era ep Animal Pragmatism because it took away Janice Robinson’s song during the opening montage of SF scenes. But also, it took away the Judith Owen song during Piper’s fantasy sequence and the replacement was just so lacking. At least I still have my DVDs come next January. Although they are getting a little worn out - I may need to rebuy them. Does anyone know it they’re changing the music in the DVDs now?

I knew the song that was playing on the Apple version wasn’t right, but when I checked the tv recorded version from YouTube TV, it was the same one. So, I was like maybe I just don’t remember it right, but it just didn’t fit the mood or anything. I didn’t think to check my DVDs or the fandom page. Also, I need to start watching the eps on the DVDs too, because I 100% agree about the theme and all of the original music. Nothing beats the music in the original recordings of charmed. Whoever the person was that was picking the music for each episode knew what they were doing. I’d love if we could get a bonus episode of whoever that person was talking about the music choices they made.

Shannen and Rose are talked about constantly and how great they are funny they are, and I agree they have done a fabulous job with the show and are amazing, but Alyssa has done just as good of a job, if not better! I watched the show because of her character. I thought she was fantastic and it saddens me that she doesn’t get the recognition she deserves also. I understand there is drama between them all but give credit where credit is due.

2023-09-01 00:15:15 +0000 UTCTrust me, we notice the music 😅 sometimes the tempos don’t even match the speed of the camera zooming over the city etc. The charmed soundtrack was such a vibe and bought so much feeling to the show, the stock music does not do it justice. Especially in some of the episodes coming up like the last scene in the next episode with the monkeys, and when Paige and Piper are comforting Phoebe on the bed after the Cole saga, the future generations need the original music, to get the full emotional effects these episodes had. How can we bring this back? There must be a way?

You can see how much the breakup effected Dan, especially since he showed some of Leo’s red flags but at the same time, I understand that he had an entire life before death and 50-60 year of unknown.

She was right in her comments and alot of the og charmed fans were disappointed in the newer version of a great show. He didn’t maintain the integrity of the original. HMC is right I agreed with her. That is also why we keep telling you as fans we want next generation with you all as part of it piper is the monarch and she helps the young ones like chris wyatt henry pandora prudence penelope and patty melinda all fight the next genertion of demons. I have all kinds of stories in my head how things could go . The ending of the series left it open for a next generation. Just saying

It was only when she died that she was able to help a “demon” who was human. She couldn’t do anything about the real demons like the charmed ones but she helped with a human demon.

Prue nails her story line but why pigtails (Holly must have been in chair to long)?! I did love Charlene, but the libris demon was terrible lol. One of the best lines "she's my dead friend" although maybe 24 hrs. earlier she introduces herself to Charlene (great friend). This episode is an 8. I was wondering why the podcast episode was only 45mins that should have been first clue the son inserts foot! Also cloud question is next episode!

I even have a Charmed playlist I made and listen to it every day at work. The people around me hate it because I sing and give zero fucks 🤣 Second, eBay has the box sets and new ones still sealed in case you wanted new ones. I have two full box sets. One I watch regularly and one I have in my entertainment room on my Charmed wall. Third, can say as a Charmed fan...fuck Brad Siberling. He did you all so dirty and no one was here for it. Being an OG fan, I was excited when rumors of the reboot were out in the open. But when they gave us the shit end of the stick I was mad. I tried to be open about it so I tried to give it a chance. I watched 5 minutes of the reboot and felt like I had to cleanse myself from what I was watching and popped in my DVDs. Complete garbage if you ask me. I love you all and thanks for being the light in my dark world when I felt like I had no one growing up. This show gave me comfort and a place to escape when I needed to. 💜💜

And the songs after the opening song when they do the shots of SF with guest star names... those songs were amazing too! Like what about That 70's show where they do "Never Can Say Goodbye" and now it's like a pseudo 70's elevator track, ack! Drew, spot on, the fight was amazing - what a bar room blitz. BTW Peggy Stewart/Lillian Wyatt was married to a WWII hero and an actor too! The Gibbs guy could have worked in Oakland, though hehe Oh snap, Holly, Leo no money mo wives. Great recap and discussion - so much fun but also some great insights too.
