Today I got rained on

I forgot how alive you feel when out of nowhere it just starts POURING rain. Nature hides in the background a lot of the time, and then suddenly it is so powerful and all around you that it feels like everything. You feel like an idiot for forgetting it at all.

Do you remember walking through the woods and finding thumbnail-sized toads hopping in the gravel and dirt? Little, dry, bumpy-skinned creatures. How can something be so small?

Do you remember foxes? Do you remember how bright foxes are, like a flash in a far off field?

Sitting inside all day, I forget the rain and the wind, let alone the feeling of a toad hopping around inside my cupped hands. I want to write and create something that is beautiful or touching. I want to express those parts of myself and so I stay inside a lot. I lay in bed and think and think.

I can get detached for a while, for weeks, sometimes. But then it will rain on my stupid head.
