"Imagine if Reiner and Eren could have a long conversation" indeed

Jean has pink hair... bro what?

Jens B

idk if you got it but the guy who hang himself after telling his story to bertolth and the others, is the same story bertolth uses to tell eren his titan first rencounter, that's why the little story have so much time on screen, cus bertholt couldn't get it out of his head and jus stealt this perspective to himself.

dude, you're so smart! and you don't miss a thing. i really love watching your reactions 🔥

I need to see him in pinkish blonde mullet to be fully Jean 😅

Mimo

Bran + Black hair = Jean disguised as Eren in S1 & S3 Bran + Blonde hair = Armin + Jean

I guess I came late xD, Porco Galliard is the current shifter of the Jaw Titan. In the flashback, when Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie launched the attack on wall Maria, Annie apparently, using the ability of the Female titan, was the one that called a horde of Pure titans (Dina's titan included, and yes her titan was an abnormal that went for the larger mass of people, and Eren's mom just happened to be on her way...) to invade Shiganshina. Also, the story of the guy that hung himself and the trio of warriors heard and echoed in Bertholdt's mind is the same he told Eren and Armin when the latter asked about where they (Reiner and Bertholdt) came from in episode 3. Crazy, right?

I know what you mean about wanting to watch the entire series again, and that feeling will only grow as you get into the final season. This show has great rewatch potential, which is maybe part of the reason reactions to it get so popular. We see Annie as early as episode 2 receiving rations in the same refugee camp as Eren. Could always branch into a series of "overanalyzing AOT" if that's your thing, I know I'd be so down for it given how well you've caught onto things the first time around. We know from the previous episodes this season that Colt is lined up to replace the beast. The current Jaw titan is relatively new and doesn't need to be replaced yet, and I don't really know why there's no mention of replacing the cart, from what we saw in the flashback she's probably been a titan as long as Reiner. Maybe they're just not excited about it because the cart isn't as cool? Reiner wanting to kill himself here could be a combination of reasons, such as feeling like an imposter, a failure, or trying to save his cousin Gabi from inheriting the Armor. Episodes 64-67 would work so well as a block, similar to how you did 53-55 in a block during season 3. If 4 episodes is too many then 65-67 would still be amazing to see in a block!

We also see Eren from the back in the middle of episode 2. It's the guy that is watching reiner and the Marleyan candidates from a roof.

Extra points for recognizing Eren straight away. Not a lot of first watchers recognize him in this episode. Now to the usual explanations, hope I am not being annoying :p You understood many of the scenes correctly, even though the scenes in this episode tend to be confusing for first time watchers. Annie was indeed trying to find the founding titan, which leads her to Kenny (so she was quite close, but with Kenny around she couldn't go on). They probably know that the king is a fake, but don't know where the Reiss family is, and that's why their search was getting them nowhere. Annie probably also easily entered the walls and acted as a refugee during the confusion of the first attack. Also: we give you the permission to emphasize with Reiner, you are supposed to :'D These were his words in the epic scene of season2 ep6, as he reveals he is the armored titan: "we were just kids, we didn't know anything. If only I didn't know that people like this existed". Episode 03 S04 (this one) is the episode that shows you they were truly just kids, and that they truly believed they were doing the right thing by destroying the "island devils". The scenes where we cut from what's happening on Reiner's side to what's happening in Eren's side are happening in real time. When we see Reiner attacking the wall in episode 2 of season 1, we see him as this formidable scary opponent. Here in this episode, it shows you he was a small boy who was thinking about how his father refused him, and how his dreams of having a complete family were all crushed down (he is suffering from Marley at the same time that he delivers Marley's suffering to other Eldians). It's been four years since Reiner returned from the island. It seems like he has been doing a lot of self reflection. He can't bear to be who he is, or come to terms with what he has done. That's actually always been him from the beginning: he couldn't bear it back when he was a "soldier" too, and that's why he got the dissociative personality back then. He is in his home right now and there is no soldier facade for him to hide behind. He is now fully "naked" infront of himself and - like always - he can't bear it. I view the scene where he almost offs himself as a full redemption for him infront of the audience. At the end of the day, he and his group were powerless pawns in a game much bigger than them. Marley exploited their innocence, and their suffering. Marley itself created the horrendous life conditions under which an Eldian's only hope for a good life is by becoming a honorary Marleyan. Reiner (alongside Jean) is my favorite character of the whole series.

The story the old man tells the trio is the same story that bertolt told to eren and armin in episode 3.

“It couldn’t be Connie could it, NO, Connie still gonna be bald” took me outttt 😂😂😂😭

Great episode. Great speculation! Loved your reaction, as always. Just a few points (and tbf the author does make this unnecessarily confusing). Porco (whose nickname - which he hates - is Pock) is the current Jaw Titan. He is Marcel's brother. Their family name is Galliard. He was supposed to be the Armoured Titan until Marcel manipulated the military to give it to Reiner instead. So when Marley got hold of Ymir, he was the natural candidate to inherit her Titan. It's never completely made clear (I think), but Zeke is a bit older than the other warriors and also he's had the Beast Titan for longer. So Reiner and the rest have more than one year left. As for Reiner's motivation to kill himself - I think it's partly because he thinks he's a failure, but it's more to do with the fact that he's absolutely eaten away by guilt. Him being 'the reliable big brother' back on Paradis wasn't an act - that is his genuine nature (remember the conversation in 2x9). But his brainwashing plus his family plus his duty to his friends and colleagues completely messed with him to the extent that he just can't cope with the enormity of the crimes he's committed. So he just wants to end it all and honestly doesn't care that that means the Armoured Titan is lost. That's my reading, anyway (but then I'm admittedly a Reiner fanboy so take it with a grain of salt!). Also - the reason the warrior kids didn't turn into Titans when Ymir attacked is that the whole scene probably took about two seconds or less so they just didn't have time to react. Annie hints at that too. Can't wait for more!

love how observant you are 😍

Mimo

Bran is extremely observant, he's piecing things together very well
