⚔️🛡️ATTACK ON TITAN S3E20 "That Day" (EP.57) FULL REACTION

Comments

Did you notice? Among the restorationists who were turned into titans, there was this bald guy with long beard. His titan is the same one that ""ate"" Eren in episode 5. Also, we've already seen some of the other restorationists titan forms, but I can't tell when XD.

Also, just because it's never properly explained in the anime, the Reiss family is the actual Fritz family descended from the founder Ymir Fritz. They changed their last name to Reiss when they moved to Paradis Island and established the society in the Walls.

Isaac Babb

Yeahhh it'd be cool if you did a rewatch, to see hidden easter eggs and stuff.

Isaac Babb

The First King of the Walls was a Fritz but he changed his name to Reiss in order to hide his own identity and the identity of his descendants. Probably also to prevent Marley from stealing the Founding Titan that he possessed.

Maja Ajam

Actually the only titan Eldians in the walls had and Marley wanted to steal was the founding titan... Marleyans already had: -Armoured titan (Rainer) -Colossal titan (Bertholdt) -Female titan (Annie) -Beast titan (Zeke) -The titan Rainer's friend had before Ymir eats him -Crawling titan (the one with Zeke) -Some unknown titan we don't know -Eren's titan that clearly came from outside the walls with Grisha and is probably the same the Olw had there

You summed it up really well for the first time watcher 👏🏼

Those books you were wondering about — whether they’re true or not. YEAH you were RIGHT to be skeptical. The books written by the Eldians say one thing, right? The ones inside the Walls claimed that humanity was wiped out. Meanwhile, the Marleys’ books say the Eldians are the descendants of devils and deserve to be wiped out. And then the secret books from the Owls say the Eldians aren’t actually that bad after all. On the other hand, the Eldians actually helped build the city. (Which is from the owls) From this, we can see that books are written subjectively—they reflect the perspective of whoever’s writing them. And of course, the same goes for our real world. So how can we really know how much of the history we’ve learned is actually 100% true? I do love AOT because of this. It shows that HISTORY cannot be believed 100%.

Yes the weekly rewatch! I always went and watched compilations of things I missed in aot

Everyone beat me to explaining things already lol. But yeah crazy episode… massive reveals and we are starting to uncover the tragic history of their world. Most people need a rewatch or to take notes to absorb it all tho 😅.

Also, to add to this (I might be ruining the "watchability value" of the show at this point, so don't read on if you don't want to be spoiled on things you've already seen but didn't notice 🤣): At one point in the story, we're shown Historia's flashbacks with her sister Frieda. In those flashbacks, Historia is reading a book which has the iconic imagery of the original "Ymir" making the deal with the Devil. (I will be referring to her as Ymir the founder). In that flashback, Frieda tells Historia that the image in the book (Ymir the founder) is called Christa (which I think has to do with the Japanese writing system -> the same writing could be read in two different ways. Ymir's written form could also be read as Christa). Frieda tells Historia that Christa is a very kind girl who is always thinking about others, and that the she (Historia) should be more like her. It seems like Historia was then "given" the name Christa when she was sent away to the scouts, and she took on the persona described by her sister. So in a way, both Ymir (our Ymir) and Historia, ended up being renamed after the same historical figure. And both of them ended up meeting and having a deep connection, each having her own version of the Ymir name.

Ghadir Younes

Our Ymir (the one that we know from the scouts) was never even called Ymir in the first place. Somewhere around season 2, we see her backstory: she was a homeless orphan who was randomly selected off the street by some people who wanted to present a "Ymir" figure. So naturally, that wouldn't even be her real name, though we are never even told what her name was originally (her identity was severely warped inside her own head, and hence her whole story line with Historia, who also was given a name who isn't hers). The talking titan from the OVA was probably someone who (back in the day) was taking part in worshipping the "fake" embodiment of Ymir (our Ymir), and mistook the girl scout for her because of the similar features.

Ghadir Younes

ymir was an orphan outside the walls. some people took her and gave her the name 'ymir' (we dont know her actual name), introducing her as a royal blood and a descendant of the original family. people worship her in a small cult-like place until they get caught by the marley public security, and she gets sent to the paradis island for her life sentence as for the thing about marley – eldians live inside the internment zones, completely brainwashed by marley like grisha's father to believe their race is devil blood and commited various sins. marley use them as vessels to pass down the seven titans they have to maintain their power over the world. however, as their dominance wane, they change their aim to recover the founding titan inside the walls tried to explain it as much as without spoilers and given the information 'til this episode, hope its clear! ♡

lara

Eldians and Subjects of Ymir are used interchangeably to denote the Race that they are. Eldians and Subjects of Ymir are the ONLY race that can turn into Titans, which is why Marley needs to keep them alive, and in various internment camps. Yes, there can only be 9 intelligent titans, so far we have come across 8 of them; Erens The Founding Titan (Also within Eren) Colossal (Armin) Armoured (Reiner) Female (Annie) Beast (Zeke) Ymirs Titan (?) Quadraped/Crawling/Backpack Titan (?) Unknown Titan (?) Zeke is Erens half-brother. Zeke also has royal blood because Dina did. The King of the Walls is the First Reiss King who fled to the island and erected the three walls. The Ymir character that we know in the show was an orphan who was taken in by some religious group, given the name Ymir and paraded around as a descendent of the Royal Family who would protect them - she came from Marley, when they were caught and found out, she was shipped of to Paradis Island and turned into a titan, there's nothing remarkable or significant about her, just that she was given the same name as Ymir Fritz. When the First King of the Walls fled to the Island, some of the Royal family who disagreed with him or the path that he chose for the Eldian people stayed on the continent, Dina Fritz is a decedent of those that stayed, she is/was of royal blood, just as Historia is. Eldians living within the Internment Camps are brainwashed into believing they are paying the price for the sins their ancestors committed (who is right, who can say, History is decided by the victor as you know). So they believe that when they are being asked to kill the Eldians within the Walls they are doing it for a just and righteous reason, that the suffering they experience in the internment camps is because of the people in the Walls, and the only way for them (those in the internment camps) to be free, is to kill everyone in the Walls. The island where Eren and Co. live is called Paradis island but it's often referred to as "Paradise" as a cruel joke, it's where Eldians get sent to be turned into Titans if they've committed a crime etc. The parallels drawn in AoT between Jewish people and the Holocaust and summarily between Japan and China have for example, caused the Manga/Anime to be banned in places like China.

Jake

fun fact, some of the restaronist where the titans that appeared on season 1, specially the one who almost ate Armin the Beard guy or the Beard Titan, now you could wonder what does implicate Dina Fritz Besides being Grisha's Wife but to be a ROYAL BLOOD ONE, do you remember the time Eren Punches the Hand of his Step Mom and start controlling the titans??? that happend because Eren have the Founding titan besides the titan of his father, that means he is overpowered but doesn't habe Royal Blood to use all of his Power, HE AWAKENED THE TRUE POWER OF THE FOUNDING TITAN BECAUSE HE TOUCHED A PERSON WITH ROYAL BLOOD "his step mom" and you might wonder why Zeke can control titans too?? and that's cus he is royal blood too as you see is the son of Dina Fritz, a lot that Answered so many little thing that it could help you to catch on the Story and it has been already showed, oh and that's why Rod Reiss treated Eren as a Vessel because he couldn't use the entire power of the founding titan IF he wasn't in contact of a royal blood subject of Ymir.

OMFGGG THIS EPISODE IS SO FIREEE

Alen Lc

Yes you were 100% correct Ymir was worshipped because she had the same name as the founder Ymir but they are not the same person and are only related by having the name Ymir. A lot of people get confused by it so your not alone dw

Rhinoek

All the restorationists were the titans that jumped eren's squad in episode 5
