My take on the flag that snaps before shit goes down was that the noise had Eren (i think?) instinctively reaching for his sword. Seeing Eren this jumpy clued Reiner in to the fact that he'd already been exposed, and it was now or never.

2025-07-15 05:53:24 +0000 UTCThis is such an amazing episode. An all-time classic. Every second of it is so well put together. The dialogue, the lighting, the choice of shots, the music, the weather. Everything is just perfect. 'We were just kids. We didn't understand anything... I don't know what's right and what's wrong anymore... All I know is that I must now face the consequences of my actions and as a warrior fulfil my duty to the bitter end.' Reiner's last monologue hits so hard every time. As does the fact that Bertholt literally starts crying as he realises that the game is up. (Bertholt's last 'Yarundana? Ima? Koko de?' - 'Are we doing it? Right now? Here?' has become a fan-favourite phrase in Japan with people saying it when they go to order a coffee, or buy a carton of milk.) Great episode. Great reaction.

2025-06-13 10:26:47 +0000 UTCThe reveal being said so casually was because Reiner's VA was literally asked to speak as if they were just having lunch and talking about this and that, and in the manga the bubble where he reveals their identity is soo small, in the corner of the frame with other bigger bubbles of Hanji speaking all around it, it'd be easy to miss it if you're not careful π

There's been so much foreshadowing of these two being traitors since early Season 1. In the fight against Annie in the forest, Armin said to keep the hood on but when Reiner went to fought the Female Titan he removed the hood as to not risk dying I was so excited for you to watch this episode and YOU DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!
