Ariae Moonknife comes from a nomadic tribe of centaurs; even among her own people, Ariae was something of an outlier, having no desire to bear foals and a distinct and strong curiosity about the smooth-skinned two-legs that her tribe often traded with.
At fifteen, barely old enough to be given adult responsibilities, Ariae was separated from her tribe by goblin slavers; she managed to break free, but was left wandering in the wilderness alone. She appealed to her goddess, Mayari, and the goddess heard her prayer, granting her the strength to survive and more tangible aid in the form of an ally, the cat-bard Baldur.
Baldur and Ariae eventually made their way to Colline d'Amis, the capitol city of Traite Allie, where they met the holy warrior, Dor Lejern and joined his band of adventurers.
Ariae provides an alternate, compatible faith which complements Dor Lejern's uncompromising ideals. Her faith embraces diplomacy and discourse and the unraveling of mysteries in addition to self-sufficiency and a staunch defense of those weaker than oneself.
