Catnap looked around the barn and gave a sigh.
"11 guests," he sighed. "And not one of them has even attempted a dosido."
"Not a bad turn out though." Said Yowl as he joined Mr C. "Gypsy was hoping to come but she got called away annoyingly."
Yowl gave his battered snare a slap with half a baguette and sat down on a bale of hay.
"Expecting anyone else?"
Catnap nodded. "Yeah actually, a few more."
Just then, they heard a car pull up and a couple of doors close. A few seconds later a shy head poked around the barn door and peered inside.
"Hey Jeni," Catnap smiled as the blonde catboy edged further into the room paw in paw with Mystique. He beamed when he saw Catnap.
"Heya!" He grinned. "Not too late are we? We got a bit held up."
Mystique gave Jeni a look. "Gonna tell him why we got held up? That someone couldn't decide which one of his many school uniforms he should wear for tonight?"
Jeni blushed a little. "Well, yeah okay, I do have a few!"
"No matter Jeni, like the one you chose anyway!" Catnap said.
Just then there a loud crash from the stage. The four cats turned as one to see Scratch standing at the edge of the stage, beside Clawdia, staring down to the floor where his tea-chest bass was lying in pieces. Clawdia gave a muffled (and very relieved!) chuckle as the bass player jumped down to tidy up the mess.
Catnap looked apologetically at Mystique and Jeni. "Er, as you can see, I'm afraid you've missed the music for tonight." He turned to the still tightly bound Reeow and flicked one of her pigtails. "And we have SO enjoyed the music haven't we DiKitty?"
Reeow scowled. She most certainly had not. She glared at Yowl and gave him a look as if to say she was going to be having words with her bandmates when she got free. Yowl just laughed.
Jeni smiled. "Ah it's okay, we're not here for the music!"
"Of course you're not." Mr C said. "Yowl, care to assist?"
Yowl jumped up and tossed his drum to one side with an almighty clatter.
"Hmm, best it's sounded all night!" He muttered to himself. "Yes, Mr C, sir. Ready and waiting. What do we do with these 'ere trespassers on our land."
"Pirate or farmer?" Asked Mystique quizzically.
Yowl grabbed Jeni from behind and clasped his paw over Jeni's mouth. "Silence ye, or this 'ere cutie will be done for!"
Jeni struggled, going along with this spontaneous disgruntled farmer role play but Yowl held him tightly. Mystique joined in.
"Oh sorry sir, we were on a school trip and we were just walking down the country lane when we got chased by a mad, raging bull. We only crossed your field to escape sir, we didn't mean to trespass, we really didn't! Please let him go, we didn't mean any harm!"
"Silence!" Yowl snapped. "Ye city folk are all the same! Think you can come onto my land and steal my wheat and eggs! Farmer Catnap, grab the girl and bring 'er over to them thar haybales in the corner!"
"Aye sir, Mr Farmer Yowl!" Catnap said, doffing his imaginary cloth cap.
Catnap grabbed Mystique, paw-gagged her and followed Yowl as he pushed Jeni towards a few large bales of hay. The two hostages mewed and struggled but there was no escape. Catnap and Yowl sat their prisoners down on the hay and started to tie them up.
"Oh please sirs, we really didn't mean to trespass!" Jeni pleaded. "Please let us go!"
Yowl looked Jeni in the eyes and gave him a mad grin. "No! I'm goin' t'keep you both here until morning!"
"And then you'll let us go?" Jeni asked hopefully.
"Hahaha, no!" laughed Mad Farmer Yowl. "In the morning I'll feed you both to the chickens! MWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!"
Catnap looked at Mystique and gave her a look to suggest Yowl was totally round the bend.
"Wha?" Said Yowl, breaking character for a moment. "Can't a mad farmer keep killer chickens these days?"
"No sir," said Catnap, back in character. "The killer chickens are fine. I won't feed 'em tonight so they're good and hungry in the morning!"
Yowl gave a satisfied nod as he secured rope around Jeni's ankles. "Good! How does that fate take your fancy trespasser?"
Before Jeni could reply, the group were disturbed by a quite voice from behind.
"Er..Sumimasen...Catnap-san?"
Catnap looked surprised. He turned round and saw Neneko standing there in her Japanese school uniform. He beamed and bowed respectfully to her.
"Neneko, I didn't know you were back in the country!"
Neneko smiled. "Hai! I got back yesterday. Tabi said you were having this dance so I thought I would surprise you!"
She glanced around the room and was greeted by gagged 'hellos' and 'welcome backs'.
Mystique used the opportunity to warn Neneko. "Neneko, run! These mad farmers want to feed us to their killer chickens! Go, save yourself!"
Neneko laughed but before she could respond Yowl had pounced on her, back in full on mad farmer mode.
"Aaah, you shall not escape my oriental pretty! You can join these 'ere trespassers for the chicken's breakfast tomorrow!"
Neneko struggled playfully as Catnap and Yowl got her bound and gagged. They sat her on the floor and turned their attention back to the trespassers.
"You two have caused me enough trouble for one night!" growled Yowl. He tore off two strips of duct tape and covered Msytique and Jeni's mouths. "Your fate awaits you at sunrise! MWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH...*cough cough* MWHAHAHAA...*cough...oh gee."
Yowl looked up at Mr C. "I think I'll just get myself a drink of water."
"Good idea" Catnap laughed. "I'll look after the prisoners."
Yowl gave him a thumbs up and headed off to find a drink.
Catnap turned to his latest guests. "Ah well, guess you three had better hope those chickens are off their food tomorrow eh?"
The bound kitties all struggled, desperate to escape their fate. It was already quite late and dawn was fast approaching!
*********
The following day, Neneko, Reeow, Sassy, Kitannie, Minette, Clawdia and Terri met up again in the new cafeteria at the Catnab Club, each tucking in to a mid-morning snack. Mr Catnap came in a joined them.
"Enjoy the dance last night girls?" He asked.
"Uugh, my ears still haven't recovered from that din!" Minette said.
"Well I'm still annoyed I missed the Killer Termites but yeah, it was a lot of fun!" Said Terri with a grin.
"Speaking of killer animals..." Reeow said.
"Ah yes!" Mr Catnap said, anticipating the question. "as you can see, Neneko escaped and luckily for Mystique and Jeni, Mad farmer Yowl couldn't find the keys to the hen house so they're fine."
Just then, another couple walked in, paw in paw. The gang looked up as they crossed over to the table.
Catrina and Tabi smiled happily as they sat down with the others.
"Well, well," Clawdia remarked, "Lovers tiff all sorted now is it?"
Catrina and Tabi giggled.
"You didn't really think we'd fallen out did you?" Tabi laughed.
Catrina put her paw to her forehead in a melodramatic pose. "Oh my broken heart!"
"So that was all put on then was it?" Sassy asked.
"Of course!" Said Tabi. "But I must admit, Kitannie's uniform is cute".
Kitannie smiled. "Glad you like it, I can't stand it!"
The gang laughed.
"Actually," Catrina continued, "we do aaaaalmost have a date for the wedding too."
"About time!" Said Terri.
"I know," said Tabi. "We're thinking of September. Will let you know the exact date when we've booked somewhere."
"Will look forward to it!" said Catnap.
Nods of agreement went around the table. Catrina and Tabi gazed lovingly at each other and gave each other a quick kiss.
"Enough of the smoochy stuff!" Said Terri. "Going to do another dance some time Mr C? Maybe a gothic themed one?"
Catnap smiled. "Maybe Terri. Will have to see!"
"Well," said Reeow, "I'm going to have to leave you now. Got a band practice. And first on the agenda is showing Spit where to shove that awful violin!"
"Have fun!" said Sassy.
"I will!" Beamed Reeow and she skipped off.
"So," said Mr Catnap. "What shall we do today ladies?"
