"You sure this is the place?" Whispered Minette as she approached the barn with her friends Cadenza and Sofia.
"I'm sure, yes!" Cadenza insisted getting rather annoyed at her friend's constant doubt. "I checked online before we set off, this is definitely it!"
Sofia's ears pricked up. "Yes, I can hear music coming from inside", she said as she stepped carefully over a toad covered log in the grass.
The girls stopped and listened. From within the barn they could indeed hear music. The alarming, torturous screeeeech of an out of tune violin attempting the melody for "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" against the equally hideous backing of a tea chest bass and a snare drum that sounded as if it had had the life pounded out of it many years ago.
"Well," Sofia said with an awkward laugh, "Sort of music anyway".
As they approached the barn they started to wonder if the dancing was going to be as bad as the "music". Cadenza confidently opened the door and they stepped inside.
"Oh," Minette said as she glanced across the room. "Not a lot of dancing going on."
"Erm..nope." Cadenza agreed. "Unless the chair-tied struggle is a new dance craze I haven't heard of."
Pur-Ling, Reeow and Terri tried to Mmmph a warning to the new guests but it was too late.
The door closed behind them as the music/noise stopped playing.
"Glad you could make it girls".
The three catgirls spun round coming face to face with Mr Catnap.
"So the invite was from you was it?" Cadenza asked with a scowl.
"Actually", came a voice in the darkness. "It was from me."
Sofia looked around suspiciously and stared into the gloom to see where the voice had come from.
"Spit?!" She exclaimed, as the long haired punk came into view. "This was you was it?"
"Yep. Surprise!"
"Spit said you were considering joining the club properly Sofia so he laid on this little party for you." Mr Catnap explained.
Just then the girls noticed the rest of The Catastrophes (sans Reeow of course!) up on the stage grinning besides their rather battered instruments.
Sofia laughed. "Aaah it was you making that din on the violin then was it Spit? Explains a lot".
Spit shrugged. "I'd never played one before. And Yowl sat on my bow and broke it a bit. But enough of this small talk. You can the band play more later..."
"Uggh do we have to?" Moaned Cadenza. "My ears are still hurting."
"Yes you do," Spit continued, "And don't interrupt! You will hear the band more later but for now...Mr C?"
Mr Catnap held up some coils of rope. The girls sighed, resigned to their fate. A captive audience for the worst country band ever.
***
Before long, the newest arrivals were standing against wooden beams facing the make-shift stage, secured tightly with Mr Catnap's traditional blue rope and gagged with tape. As the band started up again they started to squirm and struggle, desperate to avoid the agony of another bad rendition of whatever counrtyish songs The Catastrophes guys thought they may know.
Cadenza kicked her boots against the pole as best as her bound ankles would allow as they ripped through what was probably "Bad Moon Rising" for the fifth time. Meanwhile, Sofia watched Spit with a romantic glint in her eye and settled in to enjoy the feeling of her first hostage role play.
Pur-Ling had managed to train herself to sleep through anything so was now blissfully unaware of the racket going on but Reeow and Terri were clearly suffering too. Reeow gave Spit a glare as he Country-fied "Reeow's Going Nowhere Tonight" and played the violin right in her face.
Overlooking the musical tortue, Mr Catnap gave a grin and then gazed out of the window wondering if anyone else would arrive...

Should there be more guests? Let me know below and if so, who else do you think should get all dressed up in their school uniforms? (As if I can't already predict a couple of names at least!)
