"A school themed 'barn dance'? At the deserted barn on the outskirts of town?" Terri exclaimed. "Like that doesn't sound suspicious."
"Any idea who the invite was off?" Reeow asked innocently.
Terri gave Reeow an "are-you-being-serious?" look and scoffed.
"The invites were just left at the club, no names." Pur-Ling replied. "Now, yeah of course it sounds dodgy, but I have had a really rough week, work has been like a box set of 24 and quite frankly, I could do with something to let my hair down. So, I dunno about you girls but I'm going and I intend to have some fun!"
Terri stared in disbelief, "You're going?!"
Pur-Ling smiled. "I already have my old uniform washed, ironed and ready to go!"
Reeow grinned. Terri noticed.
"Oh come on Reeow, you're going too?"
"Well, I haven't ironed mine but yeah, seems fun".
Terri sighed. "Well, I'm not. I have a new film to watch, Revenge of the Killer Termites VI, I've been looking forward to it for weeks and I'm not missing it for some dodgy dance thank you."
"Suit yourself" said Reeow as she headed off home to get ready.

Three hours later, the microwave pinged and the popcorn was ready. Terri poured herself a bowlful and sat down in front of her HD TV, lights down low, curtains drawn and candles burning. The movie makers logo appeared on the screen as she started stuffing her face. The legs of a giant termite thudded to the ground on a moonlit street accompanied by the sound of sinister strings. Terri's heart raced - already engrossed in the film and living every second. Then, just as the termite approached the nuclear power station just beyond the city park - as blood dripped from it's grotesque jaws and the shadows of a thousand more insects crept into view...the screen went dead.
"Oh for f...." Terri snapped. "Another sodding powercut! What am I supposed to do now?"

On the other side of town, well, technically, just on the outskirts, in a gloomy disused barn, Pur-Ling and Reeow sat back to back on two old wooden chairs. They struggled against their bonds, their muffled moans hushed by strips of duct tape slathered across their mouths.
As they tried to escape, they noticed the barn door creak open. Had their captor returned?
They watched as a figure walked over to them.
"So," the figure said, "I take it there's not been much dancing yet then?"
Reeow shook her head as Terri stepped into the light.
"Didn't think so" she said. "Do I also take it that Catnap is back then?"
"Yup, you're right there Terri!" Came a voice from behind.
Terri was just about to turn round when she felt a paw clasped over her mouth.
"Glad you could make it in the end!" My Catnap beamed as he pulled up a third chair. "Now, let's get you settled in shall we?"
