Watsonville, California – Several Watsonville Police Officers and good Samaritan helped rescue a cyclist trapped under a stolen car. That 65-year-old cyclist is in stable condition and recovering from his injuries. The incident unfolded late last week when officers attempted to pull over a driver in a stolen Honda near Main St. and Pacifica Blvd. As they approached the stolen car, the driver, 22-year-old Enrique Garcia, jumped out of the moving car and ran off. The moving car then struck the cyclist and wedged him underneath. Officers and several good Samaritans jumped into action and lifted the car to help free the cyclist. Garcia was chased down by officers and arrested within minutes of the crash. He now faces several charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving causing bodily injury, and evading a peace officer with disregard for safety.
