Police Officer Saves Boy Choking on Candy

Arlington Heights, Illinois – On August 2nd, 2022, while participating in the National Night Out event at North School Park, Arlington Heights police officer Treston Schoeny observed a commotion in the crowd a short distance from where he was standing. Officer Schoeny discovered a 7-year-old boy, Colin Connolly, who was choking and could not breathe. Officer Schoeny, without hesitation, administered the Heimlich Maneuver and was able to dislodge a piece of candy that was obstructing Colin's airway. The incident was captured on a police body-worn camera, and shows the quick reaction and life-saving response of Officer Schoeny.
