Looking for a little advice guys
Added 2019-10-02 18:23:56 +0000 UTCI'm going through the process now of publishing my first book to Amazon. I'm starting with the first two chapters of Carly and Jay's story since it's the most well developed, polished, and received. It also has the most "runway" so I can publish a couple chapters together at a time over the next ~10 weeks without needing to take a break from extending the series.
Here's my question, have any of you bought Erotica on Amazon? What are the typical submission lengths (First two chapters of Jay and Carly is 8500 words which is like 18 pages). Is that "normal?" Too long? Too Short? What would the pricing be? Thanks everyone!
Side Note: There's going to have to be some substantial edits to Carly's relationship to her family because of Amazon's policy on incest. Carly will end up being adopted which means I have to rework her backstory. I'll be sure to post those altered chapters here for you guys to peruse. Also, I'll let you know when I publish the stories in case anyone is feeling particularly generous and wants to help (either with a purchase or a free read on Kindle Unlimited).

2019-10-02 20:04:52 +0000 UTCThat's helpful. Thanks. Those look like Kindle pages which appear to require some translation (near as I can tell, they're roughly double the counts of what they show up as in my word processor). Chapters 1-6 takes Jay back to New York and presents a nice stopping place. It does force me to rewrite the Sherry / Carly backstory now though... grumble. Thanks for the research.
2019-10-02 19:57:57 +0000 UTCStuart Grosse's Lewd Dungeon is $0.99 for 75-85 pages and is currently up to 12 'books' Sydney Allen's "Ghosts of Gods" is $3.99 for 310 pages Randi Darren/William Arand's Fostering Faust series is 1.99 a book for 3 books, around 200-250 pages each. Cebellius' "Mask of the Template" is 4.99 for 363 pages. How many more'd you like? All of these are fantasy erotica of one type or another.

2019-10-02 19:23:12 +0000 UTCEverything I've seen is that KU is really only useful for "Juicing" your sales by giving one or two early chapters for free and then enticing them to buy the other chapters. Since I don't have other stuff yet, I'll probably end up waiting on that. Novella length? So more like ~50ish pages? What's the rough price range for that stuff? 2.99? 4.99? I could bump it to the first four chapters pretty easily.
2019-10-02 19:08:58 +0000 UTCAre Carly & Sherry both going to be adopted? When I buy sexy tales via Kindle, it's usually novella or more commonly novel length. There's also Kindle Unlimited, which gives a flat I think $10 or $12/mo price to 'check out' up to 10 books at a time. If you try to checkout #11, it gives you a list of the ten you've currently got out and asks you which you wish to return. I bring that up as a potential way for you to cheaply research your competition. Not everything is covered but lots and lots and lots are, some of them as good add or better than major publishing house releases, IMO. If you end up liking it, there are typically sales where you can prepay for up to 2 years at $6/mo. Hope this helps.
