Not all authors use there real names. Lastly, let me known if im wrong, but was the mc always goth? No need to go at it from an emotional angle, 10 ppl can read the same book and get 10 different perspectives on the meaning of the story. Its not about a best seller, its about getting your foot in the door. Also the hunger games would be the easiest, she can say she was watching her dad watch a football game and she just thought "what if".
