November 30,2020. Don't worry, this isn't one of those "We're Going Away Again" emails ;-)
In fact, it's something we think is much more exciting.
Over the past few months, we've been delving more and more deeply into the world of Unreal Engine. We love it. We love it so much we've gone and invested in a quite kick-a$$ machine in order to more effectively work with it. You see, what you may not all know, is that for the better part of 20 years, all this LCKX stuff has been created on... wait for it... a laptop.
That's right. A. Laptop.
Laptops are handy because they can let you work wherever you want. But frankly, they're quite sh!t at doing anything quickly -- especially hard-core rendering. It's only taken us 20 years to twig to this ;-)
The long and the short of all this is, we've got a new machine coming next month. It's going to be fast, which means we'll be more productive, our scenes more immersive. But it also means we're going to forego, for December at least, the daily updates here, while we get that equipment up to speed and all our data re-organized. They've been fun, but if the last Exotica pic is anything to go by, we think we all prefer quality over quantity anyway.
And that's what this brief moment of pause is all about. Getting us in a place where we can really up the ante in terms of quality.
Oh, and we're pushing the girls into Unreal. What does THAT mean? Well... maybe it means animations... maybe it means more "cinematics". We have an interesting idea for "storyboarded" comics that we're playing around with... only time will tell us all quite what that means.
It is your invaluable support that has allowed us to do this. The possibilities presented by the hardware we have purchased in no small part due to your contributions are very, very exciting.
We hope you'll stick around and watch what unfolds!
