Game Dev Update 06-09-2019!
Added 2019-06-09 01:19:08 +0000 UTCHey guys!
Just some thoughts I'd like to share with you!
I'm currently slogging through doing the art for the last set from Ukyu (Set 4) and this is as expected, taking longer to do due to almost having twice as many characters for each scene. Not to worry, I think I'l get through this sometime in the middle of next week. After I'm done with the art works (no animation yet), I'll prep up for another release that contains set 3 scenes (will have 17 scenes in Ukyu's style playable!). I've placed them in the game already and I'm just hoping to get through the base artwork of the next set before that happens.
Also another thing that I'm working on is something for our long-running Kickstarter. It's art assets for things like the desktop wallpaper beach art that I've asked Ukyu to help me on. I'm mentioning this to you guys because I've also asked Ukyu to help me with establishing the new look for the updated art style. I won't be doing the updates to the characters sprites and special events yet - this will be a post v1.0 thing. The new style established in this wallpaper art piece will (most likely) be used as the base for Ukyu's new style in the game.
What I'm also thinking of is, we'll try enabling multi-artist selection in the main story, so you guys can play with the original style, or Ukyu's. The special scenes will gradually have the scenes in her style, and I'll also be gradually updating the older ones. New scenes will initially be created in our own style before we do and upgrade - like in Summer in Springtime. Again, these will be a post-v1.0 thing.
Now I know you guys are fans of certain characters, so we'll be doing the character for the wall paper one at a time and we'll show you guys what the Ukyu's line renditions look like. The style will be in anime - closer to what we've got. General identities will be kept while general improvements to the graphics/anatomy will be made.
We'll take things a step at at time simply because there are a lot of characters here and this might be a big undertaking. :s
But before me doing the new style, the current style's sprites need to be updated behind the scenes. This means reworking a lot of the graphics, so I may as well add in my own improvements and bring all the older character sprites up to what I used for Min-Seo. A lot of them are incompatible with the technique used to swap in/out different artistic styles found in Summer in Springtime. By doing this, this'll help me with making future special scenes. So... big undertaking might be an understatement here D:
