Game Dev Update! 12/19/2017
Added 2017-12-09 16:11:36 +0000 UTCHey folks!
BB here. Just a small weekend update as to where we're at right now. I've managed to get and put together the base body of Ise and Minako of Summer in Springtime. Now I'm waiting for the face parts and initial background work.
For Ramen no Oujisama, I'm done prepping up the initial special scene animations - now I just need to animate the different kinds of loops ;). Animated WIPs next week, or maybe tomorrow if I manage to finish one. Sent these to our colorists as well, so hopefully by the time I'm done with the animations and gallery implementation, it'll come just in time. I've also put together up to Chapter 2 already, so I'm waiting for the remaining ones from Sharkie, who's a little busier these days.
That's about it! And one other thing, I'm sure you've heard about the uproar about the new fee structure by now, and whatever's driving the decision, it leads back to sustainability and profitability of Patreon. Considering they took VC funding. I'm neutral about all this, as I can't assess the impact of these changes right now, however, I can understand how other creators who are supported by tons of $1 pledgers will be more significantly impacted by this move, especially the newer creators.
I think in the end, there's just going to be an increase in fees - the question is, who'll bear it. I wouldn't mind eating some of that cost, honestly. I also understand that the $1 tier, and the current system in place where there's no Charge-up-front feature for new creators make them easy targets for supposed frauds. Maybe this, along with other risks that need a solution to, were also considered in their line of thinking.
I found Keshev's open letter to Patreon to be a good read, and agree with his proposed solution to the billing cycle in order to keep the fee-saving batch processing feature that's unique to Patreon.
Right now, I've read they may take out the ability of using our balance to pledge to other creators in the near future, and I hope they don't do this. This makes it easier to support other artists who we collaborate with here on Patreon.
Ok guys, back to my animation stuff. Hope we can weather through this together, and thanks for sticking around thus far.
If you haven't heard about the fees yet, consider this a courtesy post. :)
Peace!
