Clara's definitely my favorite companion. I will say that I only got several episodes into season 10 when HBO lost the rights to Doctor Who here in the US, so I'm not that much further than you are right now. I'll just watch Doctor Who with you from now on lol

To me this was the perfect end to the trilogy; losing Clara to the Raven, spending 4.5b years in isolation, coming back slightly deranged, entirely angry, and out of revenge with a side of savior complex thrown in, essentially turning him into the very hybrid that was destined to destroy Gallifrey. I think Clara made the best call having the doctors memories erased. I think had hers been erased, he would have still held onto that revenge and (time) lord knows what that could have led to. Great reaction Travis. Happy to hear the specials are up next, especially since the last couple of series were shorter than previous series it makes sense to tack them onto season 9 rather than start season 10 with them. Also, the special after season 10 really has to be watched as part of the season so there's that too.

Wow, this episode never gets any less special for me no matter how many times I watch it. Clara's also my favourite companion so this episode makes me emotional every time but it really is the perfect end for her. I'm SO glad she went out on this one and not on Face The Raven, this ending feels much more fitting. Throughout Clara's time on the show she's been compared to The Doctor. They became so close because they're so similar, as Ashildr said, so Clara becoming essentially immortal and travelling the universe in her own TARDIS with her own companion feels right. The Doctor even called her "Clara who" lol. It's perfect. The episode as a whole is so well written. The pacing is spot on, the twist of The Doctor actually being the one who forgets is done so well and you never see it coming, I loved the glimpses of some classic aliens in there despite there being no actual adversary in this episode, I love that this is the first time as modern Who viewers that we see The Doctor on Gallifrey in the present day, the acting was on point, it's visually beautiful and that line from Clara saying "you said memories become stories when we forget them, maybe some of them become songs" hits me hard every time. It's just a stunning episode and a fantastic season. My personal favourite. πŸ”₯ And finally, this episode solidfied for me that The Doctor and Clara's relationship was romantic. He faught through the confession dial for 4 and a half billion years, betrayed his own people, shot the general, broke every rule and law of time and put himself through hell just for the chance to save her. He's never gone that far for anyone before, not even Rose or River. I love that when The Doctor kept calling her a friend Ashildr was like "bullshit" lmao. We all know that The Doctor and Clara told each other that they love each other in the cloisters but they didn't let us see it because The Doctor and Clara's relationship always has been about actions rather than about words. The Doctor and Rose and The Doctor and River both used words to express their feelings but with Clara the feelings were so intense on both sides that they said I love you in different ways. By Clara going into The Doctor's time stream to save his life, by The Doctor tracking her down and never giving up on finding her again, by Clara choosing to lie to Danny to stay with The Doctor, by Clara lying to The Doctor about Danny being back and The Doctor lying to Clara about finding Gallifrey so they could let each other go without causing the other more pain, by The Doctor always telling Clara that he has a "duty of care", by Clara putting her blind faith in The Doctor to always save her which ultimately lead to her death, by everything The Doctor did in these two final episodes to save her and by them both being willing to lose their memories of each other despite not wanting to because they knew it was the only way to keep the other safe. Their relationship is one of the most special ever written on any TV show and no one will ever convince me otherwise. I'll always miss Clara Oswald. πŸ’•

Heartbreaking. I agree, it was a nice and fitting ending of Clara and the Doctors story and this time it was the doctor who sacraficed something. Maybe it prevents the Doctor from going bitter and lonely like he got after Amy and Rory died, I honestly don’t remember much of what happens after now as I only watched it once. But Clara did die, she is just a frozen version of her right before she died, eventually her time will run out. How long she can travel like this, we don’t know.
