I'm obsessed with that show

Rebekah Wallace

Yay, I’m so glad you’ve gotten to this!!! I’m sad I missed when you first posted, I’ve got some eppies to catch up on now. i think Bay will grow on you… she’s just a bit angsty lol

Skylizzels

I feel like, she's a great rich teen character. She's annoying and takes her stuff out on Daphne initially, but she's a teenager whose life has been turned upside down, so her being annoying tracks. It isnice to see teens written in a way that feels authentic and I think they captured that well with Bay.

Lina D

I rewatched it on Hulu recently lol

Lina D

it’s definitely like a hidden gem

Alicia Cue

Ahhh!! I loved make it or break it! The show was so good and no one brings it up at all

Teresa Ruiz

I loved this show when it first came out! Watching it back I can't believe how much happens in episode one! And I don't think you were too hard on Bay at all - she was incredibly rude. Like yeah, her situation sucks, but taking it out on Daphne of all people is CRAZY lmao.

Hannah D.

i did gymnastics growing up so when i found a show about it, it fullyyyy became my life and personality for a while😭😂

Alicia Cue

Oh my god I was OBSESSED with Make it or Break it. Stop it right now because nobody else I know seems to remember that show lol

Lina D

Oh that’s so fun that you’re getting to watch the show now for the first time! I hope to hear more of your perspectives too :) I’m sure it will be interesting for you to see how they portray the experiences of the characters in the deaf vs. hearing schools. It’s a good watch for sure!

scarr

I’m glad to see I wasn’t alone! The comments the Kennishes made had me staring at the screen and questioning whether or not I understood it well. But I come from a biased perspective because I am deaf myself. I’ve never watched this show before and I have continued by myself and it’s so fun and interesting to see more deaf culture. Unfortunately, the hearing school I went to hardly touched deaf culture and I didn’t have a lot of deaf friends or relatives. So I grew up without a lot of knowledge of it. I look forward to your comments throughout the reactions!

Daniel

Love Bay. She is my favorite in the whole show

Alondra Dominique

Happy Thanksgiving, Travis! Thankful for you starting this series in time for my day off ❤️

Gehazi Whitehurst

this makes me want to sponsor Make it or Break it that show was my jammmmm😂 it was out around during this time, truly the golden era of abc family

Alicia Cue

I just re-watched this a few months ago and I thought about how you might react to it. I wasn't sure if you'd like how much reading you have to do, but that didn't seem to bother you. I will agree with another poster that every single one of these characters will piss you off at some point, but that's part of the drama.

Sherry Palmer

I used to love this show but I don’t think I ever watched the final season. Looking forward to catching back up with your reactions.

PuffedUpPopinJ

I love Emmett! One of my faves!

Amy Smith

this show inspired me to learn ASL when i was younger! still fluent🥳so excited for you to watch this show!!

Alicia Cue

Wow, I bet it was lol. Somehow learning a different sign language is much harder than learning a different spoken language. At least for me.

Siobhan Linehan

So cool you know BSL!! It is absolutely a different language- there are SO MANY different signed languages, it’s wild. I spent some time in Honduras years ago and learned Spanish and Honduran Sign Language and when I went back to the US and had to switch back to ASL to communicate with my deaf boss my brain was all out of sorts 😵‍💫🤣

scarr

^ I agree with scarr!

Travis Manning

I’m so excited to hear more of your experiences and perspectives on this show!!

scarr

As someone who's Hard of Hearing, I completely understand Daphane's perspective when it came to visiting a hearing school with an interpreter signing to and how everyone looks at you like an outsider. It's not a great feeling and it makes you feel like a freak. I went to a hearing school most of my life and I got those looks; it wasn't fun. But I did go to a deaf school for two years and lemme tell you, I felt like I belonged and no one looked at me like I was weird or like an outsider because they understood and been in my position. I remember when this show came out and my high school(The deaf school) closed their classes for the day just to watch this show. It was a BIG deal.

Stone27

omg, I am so happy you are doing this show....love love love this show!

Natalie Davis

Yay!! I’ve been waiting on this one!! ❤️❤️

Jana Fuller

I haven't watched this in years and I'm already tearing up! I love this show😢❤😄

Michaela Evans

Not sure if anyone’s said so but bae’s brothers actor is Lucas Gabriel from high school musical movie series!

BtsOT79798

Love this show! Now you’re making me want to rewatch the show from the beginning!

BtsOT79798

This show isn't a favourite of mine due to the over dramatic storylines, but I absolutely love the deaf representation. My uncle is deaf and I'm fluent in BSL. But unfortunately that's useless for this show lol, ASL is basically a different language. 😂 But I think you'll start to enjoy this show as it goes along.

Siobhan Linehan

We used to watch this show in my ASL class. I haven't seen it in years.

Gracie

this show definitely makes me want to learn sign language

nalyah

Omg this was my show back in the day!!! So excited to see your thoughts on this one.

Meredith Cox

yay!!

heather

Loved Switched at Birth!!!! You’ve been starting to react to some of my favs lately and I’m so here for it

Jahnae Phillip

I've never seen so many red flags in the very first episode of a show 😭

Daniel

Love this show so much. So happy you’re watching 🙌🏾

Official Bravo Nation

I do love SAB and I’m excited to rewatch with you and hear your thoughts. In addition to the drama (you’re very right there’s lots!) I love that this show brings awareness of Deaf culture to a mainstream audience. I am a speech & language therapist and I did a good amount of coursework in both ASL and Deaf culture. I’ve met and worked with Deaf individuals in different capacities and attended Deaf culture events in the past, so I’m fairly versed in the topic and nerd out real hard over this show! I don’t think you were too hard on any of the characters btw- something else I appreciate is that all of these characters are flawed and have potential to piss you off at any given moment 🤣 In this first ep Bay was definitely being bratty, Regina a bit too prickly imo, and the Kennishes suuuuper ignorant and way out of line. I think there will be lots of moments where the audience feels conflicted like you did in this ep but I agree, it’s good to be able to see how things play out. In my opinion they do a pretty decent job showing real issues that occur when hearing and Deaf people collide! They clearly did their research. Looking forward to the next ep! 🧡

scarr

Drama? Well... buckle up!

Uli

omg my favorite show as a kid

Molly Moon

Like all abc family shows, this show is a....trip 😂 I haven't watched it since it was airing so this will be a fun journey with you!

Amanda P

Bay definitely first comes across as bratty! I think she's used to being the difficult child and Daphne comes across as such a kind, likeable person she might have felt a bit threatened that she fits so well into her family when she feels she never has.

Allison

Been waiting for this!🥰😍

ingrid vedeld

The way I just screamed!!! 😂😊😊

Melanin Ky

i’m so excited for this show

robbie

I love this show!

Flo

Omg I completely forgot you were starting this show. I’m so excited to rewatch it 🥹

Fei

Wonderful show

Portia Crain

When you started The Fosters I wanted to suggest this. So glad someone else decided to sponsor it. Hope you enjoy it as well!!
