Its hard to understand that persons need to drink but after going through it I understand after 2 years of him not drinking he still texts me when I’m at work sometimes like “I want a drink so bad” bad days are hard for alcoholics who can’t just have one drink

This is technically their 3rd of residency, which would make Meredith 31-32, and yet I think Ellen turned 40 this season

Lexie and mark are 16 years apart, their birthdates are confirmed and she was 27 in season 7 (she said so in an episode) which would have made mark 43 and therefore 42 this season (also this season takes place in 2010 and mark was born 1968)

2023-08-24 21:14:44 +0000 UTCOne thing to keep in mind, especially in episodes that mention money, is the department heads are **rich**. TV shows like to shy away from actual numbers nowadays, but in S1 / S3 Richard says both Derek and Burke are paid $2M a year ("put the damn ice back on your 2M a year hand" / "His hand is worth $2M. I want it fixed. I want it fixed yesterday.") - both well-known department heads. It's fair to assume the other department heads (especially Arizona and Sloan, both renowned in their fields) make similar figures. Hell, in later seasons, when a character gets promoted to a department head, they received a like $100,000 car as a signing bonus. I'll also echo the other commenters in that, while Thatcher is by no means a great person, and that bomb from Mer was indeed satisfying, in this case he was absolutely correct. Richard is an alcoholic, and unbeknownst to Thatcher and Mer, it's already become catastrophic (Richard's patient from last episode who had an egregious complication). A meta note about this episode, this was the mid-season finale, originally airing in November. That's (at least part of) why it's such a good episode, and why it covers all the holidays from November until December - there's no other episode to cover them in (that being said, I agree with your point about too many holiday episodes in most seasons, and kind of like this way of handling it). Likewise, the next episode (originally airing in January) is the midseason premiere, and is also a bit more of a notable episode.
