I was a big fan of Parks and Recreation which was often compared to this being filmed in the same manner. Now I wonder if it really was good or if I'm remembering it through rose coloured glasses

I just can't get into cringe humour and I don't really understand who the intended audience is. I just imagine the Michaels of the world laughing at it and thinking the whole things hilarious rather than doing any sort of self reflection.

The joke isn't in what he says, but rather in Michael himself, who has the "capacity" to say these things. I think the biggest example of this is that everyone in the show is always embarrassed too because everyone knows it's very wrong. It's not a show that makes a stereotypical joke and expects us to laugh at the joke... the humor lies in how clueless Michael is.

I get what people are saying about how it brings attention to something that is still happening and important to realize how wild people sound when they do it in real life, I get it. But I just.. yeahhhh. ๐ณ๐ซฃ

2023-07-01 19:50:13 +0000 UTCI'm sure a good portion of us have had a boss like Michael. Maybe not as exaggerated as this, but, yeah...I can't tell you how many times I've had conversations like this (again, not as exaggerated as this, but close). I can laugh about it now, but, when I was having those conversations, well, all I can say is awkward! I love this episode since it brings to attention the micro-aggressions that (still) exist in the workplace. And to answer your question, season 1 was released in 2005

2023-07-01 16:30:00 +0000 UTCItโs like a child running an office and growing up in the process. I find these episodes so fun on rewatch.

2023-07-01 14:46:26 +0000 UTC"Michael is stressful!" AGREED ๐คฃ S1 was tough for me to get through cause of the level of cringe and if it had been much more than 6 episodes I might not have been able to make it to S2, but as others have said it gets so much better! Michael is the definition of dingus but he gets less stressful and more just silly and fun, for me anyway! ๐ Was glad to see him get punched in this one though! Needed that ๐ฏ
