Yeah, don't really like this one. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't rank it as the worst episode in the show, but easily the most frustrating one. On rewatches this is one I pretty universally skip, because the only thing it makes me feel (apart from a few funny moments) is frustrated and upset. The characters are very clearly not acting like themselves and are written unnaturally to force the plot and while I do think this conflict needed to happen, a better written episode could have had it happen intelligently and then I would have actually really enjoyed it. What probably bothers me the most about this episode is that its existence means we never get to see this conflict and reunion done right.

2023-04-07 01:41:45 +0000 UTCThis is one of my leave favorite episodes, and I love this show (my dogs are named Buffy and Oz for gods sake lol). I just hate when they attack Buffy without knowing the full story. So annoying.

2023-04-06 20:33:13 +0000 UTCI always come back to the fact that these characters are teenagers. They don't always know how to express what they're feeling (heck, half the time I can't do that and I haven't been a teenager for 20 years 🤣🤣🤣, but doubly so for teenagers). Xander and the gang (plus Buffy's mom) felt abandoned by Buffy (plus, they don't know what Buffy had to do in the season 2 finale). Add to that fact that Buffy left without warning, so there's bound to be a lot of emotional issues on their end. Having said that, they're attacking Buffy without knowing the full story. They're basically punishing her by making her feel worse than she already does. This is a girl who basically takes the hidden problems of the world on her shoulders and they're berating her. Honestly, it didn't feel earned how quickly everyone was just OK again at the end. Anthony Head's performance at the end with Principal Snyder really shows the different sides of Giles really well
