Nathaniel listens to this and is quite curious how one man can not only discover his involvement with Duke Danton's treason, but pinpoint his whereabouts and execute a flawless capture. He asks what's Sharpe's secret and he coyly mentions "You could say I was inspired."
Nathaniel confides he's very interested in a man of Sharpe's skill and casually brings up if the doctor has ever considered a career in...
crime.
The "inspired" part is a reference to the special painting Sharpe mentioned a while back that supposedly can create magnificent feats of inspiration to whoever views it. It's possible Sharpe located said painting here in the Capitol.
Also there's a nod to Wizard Puppet from the previous story and how it was controlled by Tyran.
