The tiger eye, at least when Tyran wears it, allows him the ability to communicate with cats to a certain degree. He can also see from the cat's point of view if he wishes.
The two who tripped the alarm are his cousin, Topfer Winters, and the personal guard, Valor. Both converse how peculiar it was for Tyran to vanish for months and return with a doctor and three new guards, but Valor being ever so suspicious turns on the cat.
Topfer finds it amusing how over-protective his guard is, but Valor never takes chances...
