Mine Mine no Mi 0.10.x #45

Well this is it...end of 2024...hope 2025 will be a lil bit more chill and I'll be able to go back to post more. Hopefully....

Regardless now is now, and this month, short as it was, Ive been continuing the work on the next batch of bosses (specifically Buggy's crew)

Buggy himself is almost done besides his alt phase which will be hard mode exclusive and will involve his car form. However his moveset got updated, bugs got fixed, and workarounds got made (you'll probably notice Alex skin legs on the ground there, there's still a lot of legacy code made specifically for players sadly).

As I get more of a hang of how to make better AIs and best practices surrounding my own systems and minecraft's I really think some of these fights have potential, buggy's being one of them, obviously some fights will be there just to be there (such as Higuma), others are exaggerated for funsies (such as Mr3 teabagging while you're stunned). But at least some of them (especially on Hard where I go full on) have potential to be fun and challenging fights, and I think Buggy (Hard) will definitely be one of those.

 For this fight I really wanted to play around with the circus vibe and the arena a bit more, which, by the way, got completed:

 Its a relatively small arena set inside a circus tent, mostly inspired by the live action arena. And because we're using code based generated arenas I can play around with this and have the tent be randomly generated too, such as different patterns. Depending on time it would also be fun to have a 2nd arena (orange town) for their standard mode, but its whatever, I kinda like the circus tent too and it fits.

It still needs some details such as random props around the arena (nothing fancy mind you) and I'd personally love to add a flag at the very top with their jolly roger however since not all of their elements are added as elements yet that cannot be done :( I'll come back later and update the arena with these details whenever the jolly roger elements catch up.

You'll also notice the arena is half lit almost magically, that's because I'm experimenting with new ways to have light sources besides just plastering torches or glowstone everywhere, it looks slightly less natural but to be honest that feeling might go away if we add some torch poles around as part of the random props, in either case its better than having pitch black darkness within darkness and fight in that.

Finally no clown themed challenge will be complete without a big red nose as a reward, and what a reward it is, truly a trophy worth achieving wink wink.
