Master Beasts initial character sketches
Added 2018-09-29 18:14:47 +0000 UTCThe next miniseries, Master Beasts, will be starting on October 22nd, but initial concepts began way, way, way earlier this year. Here we see the first character designs presented to Vince, the artist working on this adventure.
York is meant to loosely be the paladin of the group and is kinda' sorta' inspired by the polar bear in The Golden Compass (the final version has changed a lot).
Durand is depicted with ninja themes; was changed with something more of a Mad Max/Fist of the Northstar feel.
York is like a monk. He just wears a skirt now.
Lee was also originally meant to be a martial arts fighter, but was changed into something with a Samurai Pizza Cats vibe to it.
Max is an otter whose specialty is hand-to-hand combat. To make him look distinct I went with a gladiator-like appearance, even though he won't be fighting like one.
The dragon character is a barbarian and his role will be revealed when the miniseries begins.
Some of the enemies they'll be encountering are rock golems so a small assortment were scribbled up for Vince to use.
