Mine Mine no Mi 0.10.x #44

First of all I want to start by saying that the 1.20.1 port is going amazingly, ability damage logic was implemented in a better than ever way, projectiles and explosions got some nice updates along with it, even some zoans got partially made with the new models and they all just work. Slowly 1.20.1 seems to become the defacto version to do future stuff in on a personal level at least. But regardless, 1.16.5 still has some updates queued up, one of them which will happen this upcoming month (December) will be a quality of life + fixes type of patching, where the new shader stuff will come in, new ability selection improvements, many fixes and balances. There's also at least another big update planned which will include the new challenges, biomes and whatever else I forgot about.

So speaking of which, biomes got some major improvements lately, including actually not making them near infinite in size (which was awkwardly hard to control and test) as well as:

Sabaody

Received new and updated tree with better roots, randomized sizes for them as well as an overall ground update, now being more of a swampy ground with low water places as well as 5-10 high slopes of moss/roots to build on.

Drum

Drum got some general ground updates, making it less extreme in height, as well as these awesome snow mountains (and ice spikes if that even matters). The snow mountains vary in height but overall they should be around 80-100 blocks tall, this is on top of the average elevation of the drum biome which is at around 80 blocks giving a total height of about 180 blocks at places.

In 1.20.1 I really want to try to make these both taller and wider, but right now there's certain limitations that don't make wide structures easy to add, as in terms of height I'd say leaving ~70-90 blocks for players to build bases on top of it is pretty fair.

Thunder Plains

These remained mostly the same, most of its updates were in the thunder strike logic being better and handling server usage.

Honestly biomes as awesome as they are can be extremely painful to get right, especially when it comes to their size or rarity over which we have very little or no control whatsoever, but I'm happy with the end results both as standalone features of the world as well as for some future plans I've got regarding the factions rewrite :)

There's 1 more new thing I'd like to show in the form of flying fishes:

These new animals will spawn in Sabaody and Swamp type biomes and they can be tamed and saddled, as the name implies they can fly however this is for very short periods of time, after which they need to land on water to regenerate their stamina.

Comments

That is 100% planned, tho not covered entirely, just with large patches of powder snow :3 but until then it'll be a relatively safe biome minus the lack of trees, water, food and the lapahns roaming around

Wynd

make drum biome in 1.20 covered by powder snow XD
