Mine Mine no Mi 0.10.x #43
Added 2024-10-18 16:00:36 +0000 UTCQuite a busy last few weeks, done some entirely new things too.
The main showcase of this post are gonna be the new graphical improvements, which a lot of people wanted for some reason, I'm still not 100% happy with them, and some of them might get some more effects but:
First on the list is the new Room, which is now a sphere that expands and contracts. Ope in general was on the list of slightly reworked fruits in this next upcoming patch, with a bunch of buffs across the board. The main benefit of this change is it eliminates the lag completely and has a nice animation for expansion, something not possible at all with the old blocks method. (For the record there is a config that can disable this behavior and go back to the old block based one for the time)
Secondly, since better graphics are something more people want, I've decided to dabble a bit in shaders, although not the huge game changing kind you need optifine installed to use, no no no, something small and local for specific abilities.
There's 2 kinds of shaders as far as players are concerned:
Screen shaders affecting only the player's view of the world:

As an example here we have the "Negative" effect applying a desaturation shader on the whole screen making everything look gray and depressing.
And entity shaders, which affect entities themselves, and in this category I've opted to rewrite the aura detection effect since it was kinda horrible (code wise):
Its kinda hard to see in the gif, however the silhouettes are now sutbly wobbling and have a shadow around them for better visibility.
Here's a static pic so you can (hopefully) see these details:

These are all shader examples. And again I do not want to turn minecraft into the things you see with optifine where water is all watery and there's god rays all over the place and all. But I do think some of these small effects here and there (with more to come of course) are a nice middle ground between wanting to keep the mod minecraft-like and the people wanting a more graphically pleasing experience.
And there's one last change that I wanna showcase, although its not graphics related.
Its about polishing the abilities selection screen:
So...quick explanation.
There's 2 selection modes now, drag and drop where you drag and drop abilities into their slots and keybind mode which acts both as the old (current) selection does but also allows you to equip abilities in a slot by clicking the slot while the ability is hovered.
There's also a 3 level compactness setting for the list itself, each level making room for 1 more ability depending on the user's preference.
The ? button in the lower right corner will act as a help menu detailing what the current setup allows you to do.

2024-10-28 17:06:34 +0000 UTCThere is a config option to disable the new one and it goes back to how it currently works. The only downside is that its a server-based config and so if you're playing on a server you don't really have a say in which one gets used.
