The writing on the wall implies that Despond was ultimately defeated by using the same twisted force referred to as magic against him. Despond is encapsulated into a small orb and cast aside. This orb we know as the Orb of Magicka. So, SPOILERS, the shard pieces that have been used by Wizard, Rawn, etc. are fragments of Despond.
That doesn't really explain the Servant of Magicka though does it? We'll get into that in later pages...
Scarrow confronts Coven about the voice in his head, which Coven finds very surprising. The dragon asks for advice; Scarrow recommends if the extra voice isn't trying to kill you like his is, keep it on a tight leash.
Then the crew make it to the bottom. What do they find? A mysterious cabin just sitting in nothingness.
The cabin kinda' has been brought up before, but I don't want to ruin the surprises by showing you where. I will say the secret behind the golem lies inside... ;D
