Despond's original body is pretty gross. I don't think it could ever be drawn in a way to adequately represent that, but you get a general idea of what his appearance resembles in the first panel. Below we see the symbols representing his three children: The Warrior, The Hunter and The Muse. They're not Despond's biological children; rather they're experiments that lead to the perfected creations: the three dragons.
As Coven/Rastus reads this, the platform the gang are upon begins to move down similar to an elevator. Where they'll end up is a mystery at the moment. All they can do now is continue the story written.
