Witchcraft and Devilry Chapter 38

Harry and the others head to Hogwarts, and end up learning a lot about their case, both thanks to the Room itself, and an unexpected run in with Dumbledore.

I'm pretty sure it's really just one of the old Lynch patriarchs from the 1700s or so who's been abducting unborn children, letting them grow up, then possessing them/taking over their bodies, in order to live forever. It's also not been mentioned, I think, *how* Devereaux got pregnant in the first place... Maybe Lynch could've done it (by force; I'm trying to avoid the r-word) and erased/altered her memory. I'm not quite sure what the deal is with the supposed 'Deslan' having sisters who died in infancy, or the women the 'current' patriarchs would've been 'married' to (it sure wasn't consentual, methinks)... yeah, they're gonna find a complete house of horrors in there. And them there's the house elves. I'm don't recall if it's been mentioned previously what it's believed their origins are, or if it's just a complete mystery. Because the question is, how exactly do you create such powerful little beings in large numbers? I mean, either the original creation of them involved something *really* dark but they have since been made in a breeding programme, or worse, it involves lots and *lots* of dead, missing babies or something. This is turning out to be a pretty dark little murder mystery 😳

I hope you do stories or at least parts/arcs of stories with more mysteries like that. It also seems like you left some writing notes at the end of the chapter

2025-09-02 17:16:41 +0000 UTCWell now they probably found their suspect and it is the child that was abducted from his mother's dead womb. I absolutely love this murder mystery! Now it is a race against the clock to get that blood sample and destroy it before Sebastian perishes though they may have to fight Liam to get it. Also I noticed at the very end of the doc you left in what I can only guess is an author's note about Dumbledore reacting to the news that the hallows were destroyed. Either way super excited for the next update so I can see how this plays out. Also totally in favor of Koneko joining the harem.
