Celestial Chapel Interior [33x53]

Hey everyone!

This is a follow up to the Celestial Chapel Exterior and the next part in our Celestial Mountain series. Here we find the interior of the Celestial Chapel, plague and madness have ravaged the former monks that lived here. The library is mostly intact, filled with esoteric texts on holy mountaineering, hierarchies of angels, and plane of order and beauty.

A few candles burn on but mostly it is a place of silence and solemnity. That is, except for a single tome, placed on the altar that whispers and glows with a pale blue light, like that of the planar aurora.

Next time in this series we'll take a closer look at that tome. ;)

I think seamless transition being crucial is just a stylistic point we have to disagree on. In movies and plays there are scene transitions, even in video games there are loading screens between sections. I don't think seamless transitions are necessary for good storytelling nor tactical decision making and those are our goals. The cut and the reveal are important dramatic devices that GM's can use for impact. As for scale, we made it the size we thought it deserved to be to tell the story we wanted.

I agree with KK42 on the map scale being so off from the exterior. Big is not better when running a game, and being an artist I'd have to say big is not better in art either! Epic could be a great 15 x 7 interior with a crypt and tower and other elements in a split level map. To be able to seamlessly transit from the exterior to the interior is crucial, and this makes that impossible.

this is so good! I like it so much when you make interesting exterior and interior, it helps and inspires me a lot when I prepare my campaigns. Thank you very much!
