The Hidden World

Note : Before anything, chapters 342, 343 and 344 have been written and added to the queue !

Hello everyone !

Been a while since I did something like this.

Basically, I've been getting more and more excited about the ideas I had for The Hidden World. For those of you from way back when, it was a story concept I started working on a long time ago. It was the story concept that had won the most votes in the poll two years ago too, though the story has evolved a fair bit beyond that.

Concept 1 "The Hidden World" : A dungeon core analogue story, where the emergency escape pod of a space carrier crashes onto a fantasy world. The MC AI onboard still has access to her fabricator, but her complex materials refinery is destroyed, stopping her from jumping straight to high tech devices and forcing her to build an old fashioned factory. The only issue is that people are coming to check on the star that fell from the sky...and she's in the middle of a giant war zone.

This was the original concept, for those who don't want to dig through patreon's search system. It's no longer accurate in most ways (I've worked on it a LOT) but it still gets the gist of it across.

In short, I've been constantly refining it for years, but I've never started writing it because, in a lot of ways, it's VERY close to the story in The Fallen World in it's core concepts, and I was afraid of both clashing or one detracting from the other.

However, The Fallen World has moved far enough ahead that I think it would, at long last, be possible to actually get started on the Hidden World without hampering the main story. Especially since, to be honest, I really need something else to write. I've hit a brick wall for The Starlight Trader and I just don't want to write an adventure right now for The Dragon Imperium, though I have, thankfully, managed to maneuver around my block for that story, more or less. Yeah, I might hit another wall or have some other problem that'll cause the new story to get on hiatus or never have enough chapter to be put up on patreon anyway, but it's the risk with every new project. And quite frankly I need some new fuel to get my creative engines running.

So, for this poll, I'd like to know if you guys would be interested in a novel series like that, and if you'd like to see it on patreon. Your votes and comments will also help hype me up for writing it because, well, I am a simple person.

It will also, in a great deal many ways, be a way for me to take another shot at the early stages of something like The Fallen World. I've always looked back with a mix of nostalgia and regret on the way I've started the story. I do not wish to rewrite it, but revisiting the arrival of a high tech force on a fantasy world is very interesting for me, personally. Also, this time it'll skip straight into the industrial age from the get go.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Don't forget to vote, and though I rarely ask it, do leave a comment. It's not for engagement (it's not like patreon even has systems for that), it's mostly to help me gauge if you guys would like something like that (plus some hyping up for myself) and a 'return to source' so to speak with a bit of early strategy and engineering, at least until that story moves out of that, but...let's be honest, even with my plans to make The Fallen World an 18 book series, it will probably have moved far enough past it that both stories probably will never overlap in terms of scale/feel, at the moment at which they're being written anyway.

I like the idea and would read it. It is always interesting to see how the author has advanced armor and weapons hold up against magic.

Personally, I am enthused about the concept. Even if it’s another “dungeon core” adjacent story, it’s a concept I’m fond of. There’s not many of them that marry tech and magic anywhere near as well as you have.

I'd love to read it! Though what do you think about releasing some chapters here as a teaser and saving the rest for a full book release? That would let you work on it on your own time. I've seen other authors use this for their non mainline series and it seems to work?

It looks like a real good story

There is something about that clash between fantasy and high tech that's just... appealing, isn't it? I'd read it, for sure :D
