So, here’s some news about the upcoming update. As I mentioned on Discord, it's gonna be a bit unusual - Christmas-themed! We’ve never done anything like this before, so I reckon it'll be an interesting experiment
Even though the original plan for version 0.5.6 was to focus on Hailey, I've decided to push her story to version 0.5.7. It's been in the works for a while, so I think it'll drop around mid to late January. My main focus right now is to ensure regular game updates so you guys get fresh content at least once a month. The updates won't be massive (although version 0.5.7 with Hailey promises to be almost as big as version 0.5.2 with Emilia), but they'll be consistent
I decided on this special Christmas update when I got this cool new Gallery feature in the game. You might've noticed in version 0.5.5 of Golden Coast Saga that the Gallery now shows scenes differently - they play particular segments from the game, including character dialogues (which wasn't the case before). Also, there's the ability now to put separate scripts into the Gallery that aren't tied to the main storyline. This means I can release a short story with some characters that would be just an add-on, not requiring players to follow the main plot, and it would only show up in the Gallery. And that's kinda what I wanna try out with the upcoming Christmas update. Plus, players have been asking for something like this since Halloween
Here’s the current roadmap. The content with Mia will either be a small addition to version 0.5.7 or turn into a separate version 0.5.8 - it all depends on if I manage to finish her story in time

Got other news?
Yeah, there’s something else, not related to games. First, I'm working on frame-by-frame animation tech. Remember when I showed you my character - the purple fish girl? I’m planning to do a whole animated series about her (I've got almost the whole script for the pilot episode). But as you can guess, it's a huge task that requires a lot of resources and time. So before I dive into a big animated series, I'm gonna test out the tech with short animated videos for YouTube. The first video is already in the works - the voiceover is almost done, most of the visual assets are drawn, and all that’s left is the editing
You might wonder why I’m even thinking about animation since I'm a game developer. But honestly, I’ve always wanted to make animations long before I got into game development. I’ve already got some experience with animations I posted on TikTok and YouTube, so for me, it's not something entirely new but more of a return to my roots
Here’s a sneak peek from the animated video with Catfish:

And a super rough storyboard for the first YouTube clip:

Secondly, as I mentioned earlier, I want to create more games set in the GCS universe. While I can't say exactly which concept will come out first or how many games there’ll be, I’m hoping to figure it out soon. I’ve got a bunch of different ideas for new storylines. There’s a chance we might see games about a photographer (you saw the new game mechanic in update 0.5.5 of GCS, which definitely deserves its own game) and a masseur (those cool massage scenes in GCS, remember?). I also had this fun idea for a story about a French chef working at a top-notch restaurant. But that's probably too complex and costly right now because it would need a separate mini-game for cooking. I'm not giving up on this idea, but I think it's best to tackle it later when I have more resources
Working with Alex Crime on his games
As you know, I'm still working on Alex's game, Kiss My Camera. I'm crafting the story, writing the dialogue, and organizing art tasks for the artists. We recently talked about launching other joint games too. I won't spoil the concepts just yet, but rest assured, there are plenty of exciting ideas. I'd love to work as a writer and director on Alex's other games because I find his ideas to be bright experiments that offer lots for me to learn. I'm hopeful we'll release many more awesome projects together in the future
And that’s all the news for now. Wishing all my followers a fantastic Christmas break, an easy end to this year, and a wonderful start to the new one!
With love,
your Anya Catfish
