Mila of the Polar: Part Two (complete)

Female Main Character x Male Monster (both cis)
There is a row of mountain peaks that come between the Polar at the Northern Seas. They are so jagged and sharp, so covered with ice and snow, that they look like teeth bearing down upon the earth. They had been called the Fangs because of this. The Fangs are so treacherous that no one has ever been able to pass them and live. Ages ago my ancestors tried and failed miserably. It became such an obsession for one former czar that his own family had him killed in order to preserve the integrity of the Polar.
The mountains have existed for as long as the goddess has. Some have even preached that she is resting somewhere within those frozen peaks. I have dreamed of them since I was a little girl. I would stand beneath them and gaze up as far as my eyes would take me. I would then look down at the world below me, somehow having traversed up the mountainside in an instant. There would be a cave behind me with icicles so large and thick they clogged the throat of the passage. I could hear them snapping and cracking, hissing as they fractured and chipped. I would always wake up by then though, and those dreams were far and few between.
Although, since my encounter with Sanguis, my dreams have returned and they will not leave me. I have gone further into the mouth of the cave, walking over the shattered remains of the icicles. I am dressed all in red, which is new. Before I never noticed what I wore. But this red is hard to ignore. I go further and further into the cave each night, pushing my body between the ice that remains. There are these strange flickering lights that travel ahead of me. They dance and sigh, cooing softly into my ear as they illuminate the path ahead of me. These little dancing lights, perhaps even living creatures, make me feel safe and loved. Such a strange sensation from such an innocuous thing. I hear breathing, deep, slumbering breaths, and then I awake beside my husband.
I have never put much thought into my dreams. My great-grandmother insisted they meant something, and as much as I adore her, she has a few bats in her belfry. Although now I am starting to believe her.
I woke up chilled to the bone, feeling as though my hands had been wrapped around the icy fangs within the cave. I have not felt quite right since returning from Sanguis’ keep, but I was alive so that was all that mattered. If I breathed I could tear him down. Luckily, I had one of his bricks in the Squall.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to go with you?” Dhaval asked with concern.
I tightened my fur robe around me. “Nicolai is enough. I want you to take care of Aksha and gather all the information you can from her. I'm sure he’s told her things in confidence during their time together. Not to mention she must have information on Bastat we could use.”
“I would think you’d take your father,” Dhaval murmured. “Why Nicolai?”
“My father is too frightening for some. Noclai has kind eyes and a sweet face, people trust him. We go together like bitter coffee and cream.”
Dhaval sighed. “You are not bitter coffee.”
I smirked up at him. “Then what am I?”
“Strong liquor,” Dhaval said without hesitation.
I reached out and patted his cheek. “Good answer.” He leaned down to kiss me. Ever since we made love again it has been hard to keep my hands off of him. Although it was a concern at first, I was grateful to have him here with me now.
I met up with Nicolai on the ground floor, and I noticed he had a nervous expression upon his face. I took hold of his hand as we made our way to the Squall.
“What’s wrong, dear brother?”
Nicolai squeezed my hand. “I don’t want you to get too upset.”
I gave him the eye.
“This is a big deal, Mila. Having Edgragon is like having one of Sanguis’ eyes. There is so much we can get from him. If you get too upset, we could terrify him into never speaking.”
I smiled lovingly at him. “I appreciate how you think of me, but I will be fine. I know what I am doing, and I know what I am going to ask of him. Besides, that is why I have you. The goddess knew what she was doing when she had us born together.”
Nicolai’s smile returned. I hated seeing him with any expression besides the happy, boyish one that always graced his face. Nicolai was my sunshine.
The Squall was the underground fortress of the royal palace. For generations it had served as one of the most impenetrable places in all the empire. No one could get in or out without the proper know-how. Of the two entrances, one was located in the palace, and the other was frozen over save for a month during the spring. If it ever needed to be opened there was a special mechanism that could melt the ice.
The Squall had been used as a dungeon, home, meeting place, everything one could think of. During ages past it had even served as the throne room, at another point the center of a debauched sex cult. But always, it was used for safety.
Guards stood around Edragon’s cell. Theys stepped away as Nicolai and I approached. One guard brought forth a table and chair so I could sit before the bars of the cell. Edragon sat inside, his back to the wall and his hands folded in his lap. He stood while I sat, approaching the bars and looking out. How I hated his face. Aksha could make all the pleas she wanted, but I doubt I could squash the entirety of my anger for this fool.
“Your highness,” he murmured.
My lip curled. “Do not speak to me unless you are spoken to. You will answer my questions, and if I sense any hesitation I will have my brother enter the cell.”
Nicolai put his hand upon my shoulder. He had no desire to do that.
“Is that understood?” I asked Edragon.
He nodded. “I plan on telling you all I know.”
I leaned forward. “And why is that? What made you turn from being Sanguis’ most loyal partner to running away?”
Edragon held a guilty look on his face. “It was Bastat.”
I lead back in my chair, slowly rubbing the marble handle of my cane. “Surely you had witnessed so much of Sanguis’ power before Bastat.”
“Nothing like Bastat,” his voice shuddered. “I had no idea just how much he could…” He rested his hand over his belly. “The more I followed after Bastat the more disillusioned I became and I-”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” I scoffed. “Enough about you. Whatever sob story you have to give I don’t want to hear it. That’s what Aksha is for. I want you to tell me everything you can about Sanguis. What is he doing this for? What was the point of destroying Bastat?”
Edragon’s brow pinched. He cleared his throat and shuffled in place. “Sanguis wants to create a new world. He wants to find a way to reactivate the everfires.”
“What is that?” I asked.
“It’s the source of the dragons’ powers. It’s what gives them life and made them able to create what we know. Sanguis wants to find a way to harness that power. He believes he can accomplish this by resurrecting Balafelamona.”
I held my hand up to make him stop talking then slammed it down upon the table. “This all sounds like fairy tale mumbo jumbo! Everfires? Resurrection?”
Edragon edged closer to the bars, grasping hold of them in his urgency. “I have seen it, it is possible! That is why he needed the blood from Dhaval, he is a direct descendent of Balafelamona. He has her blood and that is capable of bringing her back from the dead.”
“I knew it!” A voice boomed from everywhere and nowhere.
Nicolai stood before me, pulling his sword out as he readied for an attack. Edragon leapt away from the bars as green flames licked up from under the floor. They bubbled and squelched at the floor, rising up and flickering until great bony hands grabbed hold.
I stood from my chair and prepared to pull the hidden sword from my cane. “By the goddess, what is that?”
A figure rose from the ground, leaning into the bars of the cell. Edragon held a terrified look upon his face as he stumbled backwards, tripping and falling to the floor. The green figure started laughing and it turned around. A massive skull peered at us with emerald eyes. It was a lich.
The lich stepped towards us. “I knew that piece of shit had something to do with Bala! I just felt it in my bones!” He slapped the side of his skull.
Nicolai lurched but I stopped him. I placed myself at his side and faced the lich. “You must be Theodred. My husband has told me much about you.”
Theodred squatted down in front of me, which felt humiliating and mocking. “And you must be some sort of weird child! I love weird children.”
My eyes flashed wide open and I glared at him with disgust.
“No, no-” Nicolai shook his head warningly at Theodred.
“I thought I smelled Sanguis around here so I decided to arrive a little early for the summit. Glad I did too! Hearing that pesky flea trap mention Bala’s name just really set my blood on fire. Then again I don’t have blood I-” I stabbed the end of my cane into his hollow mouth and held it there.
“I am not a child!” I barked at him. “I am Czarina of the Polar. And I am Dhaval’s queen!”
Theodred’s teeth clattered around the shaft of my cane.
I pushed my cane a little deeper. “I was told you could be a handful, so I’m closing my hands right now to your antics. You may be a lich, but I am angry.”
Theodred wrapped his hands around my cane and pushed back. He rose back up, keeping my cane gripped in his hand. He stood taller than Nicolai, a feat I thought impossible beyond giants. Theodred tugged on my cane and a great smile grew upon his bony jaw. My cane began turning into emerald from his grip. It crackled and shifted, becoming one giant emerald by the time it reached my hand.
“Tell me about anger, little queen. I have been holding onto it for centuries.” He let go of the cane. “I’ve heard you are quite the handful yourself. I’ve been curious to see you in action.”
I sneered at him, looking him up and down as if he were unimpressive. “I’m trying to question my prisoner and you're messing that up.”
Theodred clapped his hands together. “Oh do let me join in! I do love a good interrogation. Are you going to put needles under his fingernails? Coals in his socks? Live crabs in his underwear?”
Nicolai cleared his throat and stood behind me.
“No,” I huffed. “He’s here willingly.”
“Oh!” Theodred shook his fists. “I was hoping for a show. No matter.” He shoved his arm between the bars of the cell, stretching it to an absurd length, and grabbed Edragon’s head. “I’ll go first.”
“No you won’t!” I grabbed hold of Theodred's other arm and a current flowed through me. I saw Sanguis in my eyes talking to me, laughing with me. I heard him speak of all his plans, of all his desires. I saw him weep and rage, I saw him happy and loving. I saw the blood rain of Bastat fall upon me. I held Demir’s severed hand in my hands. Mythri screamed at me. Dhaval thrust his blade into me. I saw everything, I felt every moment.
“Little queen,” Theodred chuckled. “Did you see that shit?”
I ripped my hand away from him and stepped back. Nicolai caught me and kept me from falling onto my ass. “What was that?”
Theodred giggled, a foolish sound from such an imposing figure. “The sum of all of his knowledge. You know it and I know it. We’re twinsies!”
I held my head between my hands, feeling almost sick to my stomach. “Goddess be-” I growled.
“I know, it’s a lot. But you’ll get used to it.” Theodred patted the top of my head. My eye twitched. This act of insubordination and disrespect was the final fissure that cracked the ice shelf. I grabbed his hand and wrenched it, pulling his arm from the socket so it fell out.
“Hey, thats mine!” Theodred whined.
I waved his arm in front of him. “Touch me like that again and I’ll keep it next time.” I threw it at him then turned to Nicolai. “I feel ill.”
“It’ll pass.” Theodred popped his arm back into place with a sickening crack. “That’s just what happens when you eat someone’s brain.”
I dry heaved and Nicolai put his arm around me.
“Well not literally, but it’s just fun to say,” Theodred cackled.
“Make him shut up!” I growled at Nicolai.
Nicolai cleared his throat. “Dhaval is upstairs if you would like to see him, sir. We weren’t expecting anyone from the summit so soon.”
“You’re Damini’s!” Theodred exclaimed excitedly. “Oh you are a big one aren’t you? No wonder Damini likes you.”
Nicolai’s eyes brightened. “You know Damini?”
I shoved Nicolai and stepped back from him. I placed an arm around my stomach and turned back to face Theodred. “What do you hope to get out of this?”
“Good question,” Theodred took on a more serious demeanor. “Anything Balafelamona touches is shit, and I want to incinerate that shit.”
I smirked up at him. “Good. That’s exactly the kind of talk I like to hear. Let’s go upstairs and talk then. Since I no longer have to deal with Edragon, I want to pick your brain.”
Theodred snickered. “Shall I take it out for you.”
The nausesa bubbled and swirled again, making me grimace with discomfort. “Keep it where it is. You may drop it and lose it.” I lead us back to the stairs, taking us back up into the palace.
I found Dhaval sitting with Aksha in the grand parlor. He stood with alarm once he saw Theodred in tow.
“What are you doing here?” He approached and shook Theodred’s hand.
“Curiosity, my dear cat,” he chortled. “I caught wind of your little guest, and I wanted to see them for myself. Your wife and I also shared a deeply bonding moment.”
“No,” I growled.
Dhaval’s eyes flicked to me in concern then he turned back to Theodred. “I didn’t expect you so soon. I thought you’d arrive with the others for the summit.”
“I would have stayed to help take care of old man Amit, but I think my brother can handle him.” Theodred turned to Aksha who stared in disbelief. He winked at Aksha. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell them all your little secrets.”
I shoved my cane into Theodred’s side then swooned as I felt faint. Dhaval and Nicolai both reached for me.
“Oh right, she may be a little worn out. I let her share in my interrogation of Edragon,” Theodred sighed. “Poor thing, just can’t take her knowledge.”
I grimaced at him and leaned into Dhaval’s arms. “You deal with it. I need to lie down for a moment.”
“I’ll take her,” Dhaval said. “Theodred, I beg you, stay here.”
Theodred chuckled and turned his attention to Nicolai. “How about we wrestle, big guy?”
Dhaval and I leave before I hear anything else on the matter. I sighed heavily, letting my armor drop around Dhaval. “I don’t think I like him.”
“Theodred is a lot. I won’t deny that. But he is our most powerful ally right now, and underneath that persona, he is a good person.” Dhaval took me to our bedroom and helped me out of my furs. “What did you find out from Edragon?”
“Everything.” I pressed my palms into the side of my head. “Theodred did something. As if he was drinking Edragon’s mind. I touched him and I got everything too. Every memory is in there, every conversation with Sanguis is as clear as the one I am having with you.” I hiccuped and grunted. “I feel sick.”
Dhaval eased me into bed. “Lie down, I’ll go get you some cold water.”
“No. Just go deal with him. I don’t want him going anywhere near my great-grandmother. And if my parents meet him I want you there to seperate them.” I shooed him off. “I’ll be fine. Once this passes I’ll be right back down.”
“Are you sure?” he asked so simperingly sweet my teeth ached.
“Positive.” I placed a pillow over my face. “Now go before he does anything he’ll regret.”
Dhaval lifted the pillow to kiss me. “I’ll come and check on you later.” He left and the room became dark and quiet.
I took slow, deliberate breaths as I tried to work my way through the nausea and headache. I fell asleep and found myself amongst the Fangs again. I was inside the cave and all the icicles had vanished. The cave was wide and open and those little, living lights danced around me, illuminating my red dress to where it shimmered like wet blood. I walked into the mouth of the cave going deep, deep down into its throat.
“It’s been so long,” a soft voice breathed. “I have missed you.”
I stretched out my hand, touching something cold and soft in the shadows. I leaned in close, seeing my own eyes staring back at me. One blue, one brown, both glowing within a skull that wasn’t mine. The great creature came towards me and became surrounded by the loving lights. The dragon nuzzled to my cheek and rested their great head upon my shoulder.
The dragon whispered something into my ear, something that caused me to snap awake with such force it felt as if I hit the bed from a great height. I stared up at the ceiling with a wide, bewildered gaze. I knew then I needed to speak with my great-grandmother.
Before I was even out of bed, the door opened and my great-grandmother came toddling inside. She was smiling in her knowing way. She always knew. Somehow that knowing was keeping her alive.
“There she is,” she sighed. She came and stood before me, taking my hands.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, even though I knew she knew.
“Call it intuition.” She rubbed one of my hands between both of her’s. “But something told me I needed to be with you.”
I didn’t need to sugarcoat it with her. All I needed was to tell her. “In my dreams, I went into the Fangs. Specifically, I went into a cave within the Fangs.”
“Oh! Yes. yes,” she nodded along, smiling tranquilly.
“There were these...lights. At least, they looked like lights.”
She nodded again. “The everfires.”
I had heard that before from Edragon. “You know what they are?”
“Do not tell me you were not taught about the everfires growing up!” She fussed at me. “I taught your father the story about the everfires! If it weren’t for them, we’d have no dragons, and without dragons we’d have no empire.”
“That can’t possibly be real though, grandmama,” I murmured. “These lights were so small and strange. How could they possibly have anything to do with dragons?”
“You should know not to underestimate something because they are small and strange. Haven’t you heard that your whole life?”
My insides squeezed tight at these words.
Her grip on my hand tightened. “Now go on, sweetie. Keep telling grandmama your dream.”
I sighed. “Deep inside the cave, there was a dragon covered in fur.”
“Oh yes! The goddess,” my grandmother said as if she knew what it was.
I glared at her. “Stop pulling my leg!”
“I am not. The goddess sleeps within the Fangs, waiting for the moment her heart returns.” She reached out with a pointed finger and jabbed into my chest. “You.”
“You’re insane.”
“As a bat in the belfry!” She cackled. “But I have known this for a long time. You, my child, will breathe new life into this world. You will grow the empire unlike any ruler before. I have seen it with the eye behind my forehead.” She tapped her forehead.
The door opened and Dhaval stepped into the room. “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interuppt.”
“The blood must flow into the heart,” my grandmother giggled. “Only then will the goddess awaken.”
“The blood?” I whispered to her.
She smiled brightly at me. “I know what it is like to loose my children as well.” She squeezed my hands extra tight. “But I have my Gregori, and you will have your own soon. I promise. Your heart will not be broken forever.”
“Grandmama-” my voice choked.
Dhaval came forward. “Good evening, Grandmama.”
She smiled at Dhaval and reached up to pinch his cheek. “You look so much like your father! That’s what I like most about you.” She walked away humming as if nothing had happened.
I force back tears, but the closer Dhaval gets, the weaker I become. I wrap my arms around him, holding him tight as I bury my face into his shoulder.
“Is everything alright?” he murmured. His strong hands kneaded up my back. “Do you feel alright?”
“Now that you’re here,” I murmured.
“Aww, you’re both so cute together.” Theodred was laid across the bed on his stomach, kicking his legs back and forth as he watched.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I snarled.
“I miss my wife,” Theodred sighed. “I just wanted to see some marital bliss for a moment. That’s all.”
Dhaval kept me locked in a hug so I couldn’t move.
“Your mother is a fascinating woman as well,” Theodred continued. “I can see why your father is so deeply devoted to her. I can also see why your mother is deeply devoted to him. Both as very handsome individuals.”
“Why’s he talking about my parents?” I growled to Dhaval.
Dhaval was struggling to keep me contained. “Your father was hard to hold off. The two wrestled for like an hour.”
“I do so love Polar customs,” Theodred sighed. “But, I have come to ask your permission to present an idea, little queen.”
“Idea? You have those?”
Theodred chortled. “Shocking, I know! But hear me out, I think with the information we gleaned from Edragon, it may be of some help. I already discussed it with your brother.”
Dhaval let me go and I turned towards Theodred with a curious eye. “Nicolai?”
“I do not understand how one can seem so innocent and yet so brilliant at the same time. He’s a very strong combatant, I would hate to face him alone in a serious battle. But, I digress. The two of us have come up with a plan in hopes of countering Sanguis and his drow army.”
My heart pulsed with excitement. “I will listen to any idea on that. What have you come up with?”
Theodred’s grin grew. “The answer is Hell.”
“Hell?” Dhaval scoffed.
“It’s an island in the Red Throated sea. It’s the only sea that we can access that our Navy will not go into because of it. Hell is entirely occupied by drow who split from those who went into Charbagne ages ago.”
“They’re mortal enemies,” Theodred snickered. “I’m sure if we explain the situation, they might be out for blood against their former sisters.”
“It’s exceptionally dangerous. We’ve not made contact with Hell since an ancestor tried to marry their queen, and he never returned.” I took in a deep breath as my mind swam with so much information. Edragon, my dreams, even Theodred, there was so much to process. “Let me think on it. Come up with a better presentation than sneaking into my chambers. I wouldn’t mind discussing it in more detail with you and Nicolai before the summit.”
Theodred rose from the bed then bowed. “As you wish, little queen.” He left in a surprisingly quiet fashion, closing the doors behind him.
Dhaval huffed. “As much as I would love to have our own drow army on our side, it sounds like a dangerous risk.”
“Shut up.” I grabbed him and threw him down upon the bed, kissing him hungrily and desperately. Dhaval struggled at first, but quickly came to melt at my advances. “Mila,” he gasped between kisses. “My love-” He moaned as I nibbled his ear.
“Do you want me to stop?” I asked. I sat upon him, stripping off my blouse and exposing my breasts to him.
He shook his head. “Not at all. But you weren’t well a while ago.”
“I feel much better.” I opened his shirt then clawed my hands down his strong chest. “I just need you to feel my best.”
Dhaval’s hands stroked up my back, moving around to grope my full chest. I moaned softly, leaning into his palms and then over his face to let him suck and bite. I could feel him growing thicker beneath me. The more I wiggled, grinding myself against his bulge, I also grew wetter.
I kissed down his chest, unbuttoning his pants to pull him free. I took him into my mouth instantly, tasting him and feeling his heat against my tongue.
“Oh, Mila-” His voice strained.
I climbed back on top of him after I took my skirts off. I watched him as I eased him inside. His heat, his power, it was all mine. I whimpered as I took him fully. I bit my lip while I began rolling my hips, grinding him into the deepest parts of me.
“You look so beautiful,” Dhaval pant. His hands wrapped around my face then went further down to hold my hips.
I pressed my palms to his chest for leverage, moving up and down him. “I love your cock so much.”
Dhaval chuckled, kneading his fingers into my rear. “It loves you.”
I squeezed around him. “I love you too.”
He smiled. “I know, my love.” He sat up, pressing our chests together. We kissed as I rolled my hips. I moaned as he began moving, thrusting his hips up, sapping his lap into my thighs. He buried his face into my neck, breathing and moaning the harder he went. I clung onto him, gripping his back tight. I wanted him more than I ever had before. I wanted him to flow into me and make me pulse with his love. I gasped for breath at that moment. His heat, his love, everything that Dhaval could give he gave. His snarls and grunts as he thrust harder inside me made me tremble. I hugged tighter to him, cryin out against his shoulder with my release. His seed was left deep inside me, and he did not pull out right away.
“Wow,” he whispered as he kissed my cheek and ear.
“Stay like this for a second,” I whimpered. “Don’t move.”
“I can’t,” he chuckled. “I can’t feel my legs.”
I wanted to keep him there a while longer. I wanted my dream to mean something, I wanted my great-grandmother’s words to not be crazy chatter. If there was a goddess, I needed her. But if all I had was Dhaval, I’d be happy too. Once the summit began, it would signal the end of this blood war.
