Werewolf Boyfriend: Dean 3 (special preview)

It was kind of funny, you had to admit it. After all the serious talk about the paranormal and spooky, Dean’s little outburst was a good laugh. “I like role play as much as the next girl, but I am trying to make us lunch,” you giggle.

The serious look on Dean’s face didn’t budge an inch. “No I-”

You sigh, going back to the stove. “You tried, it’s okay. Maybe later. Maybe once we actually, you know,” you say with a smirk.

Dean’s expression shifts to disappointed and sad. “I really like you, so I’m trying to be honest here. Back home there’s a way to do it but out here that should get me shot so I-” He stops again, biting down on his tongue as he looks at you.

Turning back towards him with your brows pinch. There was something in one of the Spoopy Forecast articles that talked about ‘sacrifices being left on the stoops and front yards of people in Hearthway Hollow. Someone had mentioned it was a way to attract mates. Others said it had been a warning.

“Dean, what are you talking about?” You huff.

Dean clutches the front of his shirt, digging his fingers in. The dark red of his birth mark seems to shift, contorting and deepening as his skin reddens. “I want you to know. We’ve known each other for a month now, dated half that-” His voice crackles and breaks with nerves. “And since I moved here I haven’t really dated because it makes me nervous. You don’t make me nervous at all but if I don’t tell you-”

“Out with it.” You cross your arms. “Stop playing a joke if that’s what you’re doing because you’re starting to freak me out!”

His eyes lock with yours. “I told you.”

You scoff then take a step back. “You’re a werewolf.”

Dean huffs and his shoulders sag. “I’m the Beach Beast too. I go swimming at night and I like to shift when I do it.”

You immediately stomp your food and uncross your arms. “No! Now this is really unfunny.”

Dean swallows and he takes a firmer stance. “I’m not being funny, I’m telling you the truth. I can show you.”

You point out the window. “It isn’t a full moon, it isn’t even night!”

Dean shakes his head. “The moon is part of the myth. Like vampires and crosses.”

If it were possible your jaw would have hit the floor. “Now you’re trying to tell me that vampires are real?”

A guilty look crosses Dean’s face, like he let out a secret. “Well-”

You slam down the wooden spoon you were holding for cooking. “Okay then do it! Shift into a werewolf. Eat my face for all I care. If you want to prove me wrong then just do it.”

Dean is quiet for a long spell. He keeps his eyes down and he chews on his bottom lip. He soon sighs, letting it out slowly before he turns his head. “I’ll need a bit of room.” Dean walks out of the kitchen, going behind the counter into your living room. He takes off his shirt, revealing he is hairier than you first assessed. He takes down his hair, letting it cascade around him.

“It can get a little scary while shifting.” He says, stretching himself out like he does before a yoga class. “I’d understand if you looked away.”

You just stand behind the counter watching him. You don’t say anything, in fact you’re afraid to. You don’t want to say something you’ll regret if it turns out to be him going too far with a joke. You’d save everything for then. But if it was true...holy shit is all you can think of. That’s when you notice it, the hairs on his arms bristling. Then his fingers snap and pop, the joints change ever so slightly. There’s strain on Dean’s face, like it’s painful but he still has to concentrate. Hair, or rather fur, continues to grow along his arms, you see less and less of his skin. Gray fur begins to cover him. His face is twitching, his eyes change color. He doubles over, nearly hitting your coffee table.

“I believe you!” You scream suddenly and rush out. “If this hurts please stop!” You go to his side, unsure what that could do. “I believe you! I believe you!”
