Story Ideas: a new type of post

I was getting ready to post a story idea that popped into my head and I thought to myself: “why not post these first to Patreon?” So I am!

From now on when a random story ideas emerges into my head, I’ll post here first and later to tumblr.

Anyways, this story idea happened while I was listening to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack.

My idea is of a mother and son, and rather than the parent getting captured, it’s the child. In this idea, the son is captured while returning from doing some work. He stops to take home a rose for his mama and boom dungeon. His mother goes looking for him and finds the palace. She finds her son and when she’s confronted of course she takes her baby’s place.

The beast is confused by this, but he allows it. He’s been cursed since his 20th birthday. After he refused to handle a situation where the enchantress’ daughter was harmed by one of his friends. He will be cursed until he sees the error of his ways and repents for it.

The mother has been single since youth. Having married a wealthy man young and bore him a son, she was relatively kept well. After her husband’s death she’s been pestered by marriage proposals by men who are after her fortune. But the fortune has been gone for a while because it wasn’t much of a fortune anyways. Hence why her son was traveling for work.

The two of course clash. But she won’t sit still long. She starts by putting the palace in some order. She and the beast fight over this but somehow she gets him to clean his room.

She finds out his mother died when he was young and was raised by his servants while his father was a filandering and negligent man who got killed when he was caught with a friend’s wife. The beast was slowly becoming his father’s double just before the curse.

The woman gets to know the beast, who has been cursed longer than he was a human. He’s confused by why she would sacrifice for her son, and she tells him about raising him alone.

The two bond, growing close over the youths they both lost. Eventually the two start to gain feelings and the beast shows her the enchantress’ cruelest joke. A giant painting that shows the lives outside the palace. People he knows. Villages beyond. The painting allows her to see her son and it’s discovered he’s become ill and people are trying to take advantage of it to get to the supposed money.

She leaves to save her son, the beast telling her to stay with him and never worry about the palace again. She goes, but she tells him her home is his should he wish to visit. She takes care of her son, while also scaring off the leeches after money. She discovers the beast has given her a small fortune hidden in her belongings which allows her to get her son what he needs.

The son, in his fever, told people about the palace, the beast, and it was never believed until the mother returned with the money she did. While she tends to him, people sneak off to find the palace. There they discover it’s true and try to rob the palace. The beast attempts to stop them but gets shot in the process.

The mother hears about the robbery and the beast getting shot. Another group decides to go to kill the beast and take over the palace. She and her son rush back to the palace, but are captured by the hunting party. They’re drug to the palace where they are used to lure the injured beast out.

The beast sacrificed himself for her, but she jumps in front of him as he’s about to be shot. Seeing the woman he loves die in his arms, the beast looses it. He chases off the hunting party and returns to her. He mourns for her, taking her to the painting and begging the enchantress to take what remains of his life and exchange it for hers.

The enchantress comes from the painting and grants him his wish. Allowing the woman a chance to say goodbye. The woman begs the enchantress to stay, saying rather than giving his life away, to allow them to share it. The enchantress, satisfied the beast has repented for his error, grants the wish.

Let me know what you think. Both about the story idea and the idea of doing these posts. Maybe this will help inspire future commissions. Thank you all so much!

I like the idea of posting plot bunnies on patreon. The ending is similar the Beauty and the Beast story in the Witcher novels. The beast was a philandering weak man cursed by an enchantress for...listening to his stupid friends about a girl... let's call it that. The beauty was a rusulka, a type of vampire. Beast is harmless, he loves her, Geralt realizes that she is driving him mad. She dies protecting him from Geralt, he is changed back by his grief over her death.
