2024 Art Retrospective

Another year over! Honestly, it kind of feels like 2024 had just started!

Art wise I produced 104 pictures this year (not counting alt versions and such), which is still impressive considering my biggest achievement in the creative field this year: Learning 3D using Blender! I cannot overstate how much of a boost of confidence this has been for me. Since I dedicated time in April to really sit down and make myself a VTuber 3D avatar in the form of Tony, I really have been feeling like the sky is the limit. I cannot wait to work on more 3D stuff in 2025, most notably animations and creating 3D models of some of my own characters like Munroe & Rick!

This of course made it harder to juggle other projects like my comic. But there was another reason for that, which is embodied by the picture I drew in August: My wedding with Asyr! I'm so incredibly happy to be married to him that I think I just forgot about all the stress that was the time leading up to it. This was a huge step forward for Asyr and me and I am grateful that he is by my side. Next year I will have more time for personal projects again.

Working in Blender has also given me a boost of productivity in my own regular art, because working in 3D is a whole other beast to take on and it does require different skills than just drawing a character on digital paper. So whenever I got too exhausted from modelling, rigging and animating, switching over to drawing felt so much simpler and therefore made it easier for me to get more stuff done. It's a nice way of balancing both mediums and not risking burnout.

For next year, I have a lot of different ideas of things that I want to do. As usual we'll see how it goes, because things seldom goe as planned. However I do feel very excited for new projects and finishing old ones. I do also wanna put more emphasis on putting some of my work process out there by streaming more regularly, especially when I am working in Blender. I think it would be a fun way to interact and be productive!

In closing I want to thank all of you for your continued support and your dedication. Asyr and I were overwhelmed when we got so many donations for our wedding and we really cherish this community. I wish all of you a great New Year's Eve and I hope that 2025 will be full of good things for you!
