Mr. Faire: The Series (aka me being bored)

This is what happens when I can't sleep some nights. I daydream about my stories as shows. I decided to write down one as it's been on my mind awhile. If this goes well I may do another. Anyways, this is ten episodes of a Mr. Faire and the Children of the Night series. Mind you, it doesn't follow the same continuity or storyline as my stories, but as I interpret them to fit into an easily digestible series.

Episode One: Somebody to Love

Opens to Puck and Robin standing before a burnt down building. Robin discusses the ramifications of going against Pan an reaches down, pulling a strange all white creature from the ashes. Robin wraps a coat around the creature and tells him he is safe.

Theme song plays.

Marlene is walking home from work and sees a flyer advertising the Children of the Night Carnival. At home, her human father and fae mother as whispering. Her mother mentions sensing something dark and dangerous. Marlene gets dressed and goes to the carnival.

At the carnival Marlene notices many strange things. Being half fae, she sees through the ‘Glamours’ some of the performers are wearing. She then goes into a tent where there is a knife throwing demonstration. Seraphimo, the knife thrower, asks for volunteers, which Marlene instantly goes on stage for.

Robin is in his shop and he looks up to see a package has been delivered from an unseen source. He opens it to find it’s full of strange, dry, white bones that end in points. He puts the objects into a special trunk. Inside the trunk is a special cane which he takes out. He steps through a door which takes him to the carnival and he goes to an old wagon and knocks on the door.

Back at the knife throwing performance, Seraphimo tosses a knife that hits beside Marlene’s head. It’s obvious there is chemistry between the two. After the show, Marlene tracks down Seraphimo and the two walk off together. She notices more creatures with Glamours on backstage and she asks Seraphimo what he is. He offers to take her to the Cabaret to show her. They walk in during a drag show where Muna is performing Somebody to Love while dressed in a flamboyant costume that resembles the Alien Queen. After the song is over Seraphimo takes the stage to do a sword swallowing routine and begins to remove his Glamour for Marlene.

The wagon door opens and Robin smiles up and offers the man inside the cane. Camera pans up to Mr. Faire who smiles and takes the cane.

Outside the carnival a shadowy figure stands at the gate while Ballura closes the gates. Ballura sees them and tells them to come back tomorrow. When they don’t move Ballura runs back into the carnival.

Episode Two: Changes

Flashback shows Robin putting the cane her gave Mr. Faire together. Sitting next to him is a portrait of a beautiful woman that he talks to, telling her that when he finds the missing pieces, then this cane will be able to unlock the door.

Theme Song

Marlene wakes up, having slept with Seraphimo the night before. She discovers the tent is full of roses and Seraphimo walks in carrying coffee. The two kiss impassioned and Marlene tells him about a sense of foreboding she has, like something is going to happen. Seraphimo invites her to join the carnival and they make love again while ‘Changes’ plays. While the camera pans away it shows several scenes around the carnival as everyone begins the day.

Muna is cleaning his dressing room and looks up alarmed. He screams and the camera goes back to the dressing rooms of Fye and Bronn who both react to the scream. They rush back to find Muna crying over his broken heel. Bronn goes to comfort him while he reveals his diva personality. Fye then mentions that Mr. Faire left the carnival last night.

Mr. Faire is sitting at the counter of a local diner with a coffee cup and the entire pot sitting next to him. Robin comes out of the bathroom, complaining about the smell and notices how distant Mr. Faire looks. When questioned, Mr. Faire reveals he’s lonely despite building the carnival around him as a family. Robin smiles.

Marlene goes home to tell her parents about the carnival and her mother warns there is chaos laying in her future if she goes with the carnival. When Marlene says she’s still going, her mother congratulates her.

Muna tells her about the history of the Carnival and why Mr. Faire has been putting it together. Mr. Faire is lonesome and suffers from amnesia, and the carnival is a source of comfort for him and his attempts to build the loving family he never had, giving refuge to the unwanted and forgotten in the world, giving them purpose by having them perform and makes the different ‘worlds’ happy.

Puck is shown talking with Mr. Faire and Haytham and asks them if they can keep watch over something very special. When asked what it is, Puck reveals a woman in suspended sleep. He says she’s in even more danger, and he needs the carnival to hide her and to move immediately.

All the while he looks lost in thought and is drifting off when he hears screaming and pain in the back of his mind which causes him to start crying. Marlene places her hand upon his back and sits down to talk to him where he asks her about her decision to join the carnival.

Marlene tells about her strange childhood where she felt she was raised between worlds. Her mother was a dark fae and her father was an unusually chipper man. She describes her childhood as a strange outcast in school who found comfort in various things which included fashion and music. She then says that Seraphimo felt like a natural link to a world she felt was missing from her life. Mr. Faire asks if she thinks this is true love and Marlene smiles. Mr. Faire then asks for a dance so the two can become friends.

Episode Five: Birdhouse in Your Soul
