About the Files

Hi Guys.

We have far exceeded the download capabilities that Dropbox allows us. Even with the most powerful accounts they offer us are not an alternative for the weight of the files we are starting to move and the number of patrons you are.

I am analyzing alternatives for distribution. Right now the one that seems to adapt better to our needs is Mega. This afternoon I will continue looking and with all the information we will make the decision of which one to use.

Tonight I will try to have everything uploaded again.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hola Chicos.

Always been a fan of onedrive, at least you get the benefit of MS' security

I have 3 active Patreon STL subs. The other two companies just use google document downloads.

A company that wants to be sustainable in the long run cannot depend on third party marketplaces. They take a very high percentage of profits, Patreon represents 20%, Kickstarter 15%. If you use those kinds of tools the margins are getting tighter and tighter. If you add intermediaries the cost is very high for not building anything. If they close you are dead. No platform, no customers. Our idea is the one with North Start or Loot. Building our platform will be slower and more difficult. But we don't want to depend on anyone.

These platforms are not affordable for us. On the one hand, they reduce the possibility of someone knowing about miniatures of physical ranges or our print-on-demand. On the other hand, they duplicate our work at all levels. Uploading articles, editing images to their formats, invoicing... And finally they are expensive, with services we don't need. All the time we spend on administration cannot be spent on making miniatures. We want you to have the library on our website. The implementation is a bit complex but we already know with which tools it should be done. Now we need to find a technician who can guarantee that we will be able to do it. But we are working on it. And if someone is missing a file, please ask for it. No one will ever be denied here.

Sync and MyAirBridge appear to be popular choices - I know that Epic Miniatures uses MyAirBridge and their downloads are pretty heavy each month. Redemption through something like My Mini Factory might also be worth considering. Not only does it mean that you've got lots of downloading for the month, but you can also then cut out a lot of legwork giving back-access to people since once its on their MMF account its on their permanently. So whilst it might take a bit of work to setup it means less work in the long run

For someone who needs his store it can be interesting. For us who have our own it is extremely expensive. And in any case we are not interested in disintegrating the sales channels. That implies a lot of duplicated work.

Last Sword Miniatures

I would really prefer if you distributed through an account system, like through My Mini Factory or DriveThruRPG. Or through your own website. Nearly every other group does this and it takes massive stress off of me that I don't have to ever worry about missing a month.

Have you looked into myminifactory yet to send to each account?

I did not know it I will check it out now. Thank you very much.

No idea of how feasible this is in terms of setup, associated costs, etc. but I've seen other creators use MyAirBridge and it's pretty neat

I like myairbridge, seems to be popular with many creators

Yes, we will have to compress and separate the files into supported and unsupported. It's a problem we didn't expect and it has caught us on the wrong foot. But nothing that is difficult to solve. We just have to look a little bit at what alternatives the market has.

Last Sword Miniatures

Try also 7zip to compress, works better than winzip and it's totally free

CONGRATS on having to find a solution to a good problem :)
