[Art Gift] On-Site Briefing

Spottedoopla's Justin and Simon are working on relocating one of the ISS's external communication link antennas!

Alright another one for the daily upload streak! Well, Sort of, each of them were uploaded a couple of hours later than the last and so was this ^^;

This time we have another freebie EMU pic, this one being some of the characters by Spottedoopla on Deviantart, left to right we have Justin Barnes and Simon Blake, two of the members of the Thunderbird Space Shuttle crew docked into the International Space Station, and shown here is the two working on some relocation of an external part of the space station, particularly the antenna for the common communication for visiting vehicles C2V2 system at the S3 truss structure of the station. In other words, they are moving the communication antenna. Where? I guess you'll have to ask Justin who is pointing his hand to somewhere ahead of him telling Simon to move it there, to his confirmation by giving Justin a thumbs up ^^;

The poses for the two astronaut are, you guessed it, taken from my EMU templates with some fresh works on their face and arm poses. Justin's right upper arm though was definitely a fresh mod here, I did make the base for it a bit shorter to allow drawing the outer suit with proper wrinkle bends based on how it would look like in 3D, I hope it looks fine for you guys ^^; But the real chore here was the background items. Sure the C2V2 antenna is done from scratch but the S3 Truss structure itself, at first I thought of making it look like it is made of bent metal plates without any volume but then decided given how close it is to the point of view that giving each panels more volume makes more sense, so that one takes the most chunk of my time working on it, but again thanks to Symmetry mode the process is half as hard :D Well, Almost. there's one panel that is not symmetrical to the other side and that is the bottom right backmost panel. And that puts a little bit more challenge on giving that part a bit more volume ^^;

The overall pic came out really well, though, I've been viewing this image at full screen zoomed at the two's helmet and chest just to admire the result XD
