Mermay 2025 - Rescue Arrived!

Kai from Geo's crew came in to save the day and bring a fix to a problem happened during Lisa's spacewalk!

Well they better be careful with that thumb drive on Kai's hand, one slip-off and everyone's gonna be in trouble, doesn't help that there's no lanyard band tied onto it ^^;

Anyways, finally got my chance to do a Mermay pic after missing the chance to do so in previous years! This is partly the reason why I created Kai Kealoha, to participate on Mermay, even though not necessarily, I've been done pics of her outside Mermay (well, two of them, I need to give her more attention I admit ^^;), but there's no perfect way to have her show up other than in a Mermay special pic :D. And now, the little mermaid astronaut of the all 12-year-old crewed Marvin-O space program commandeered by Geoffrey "Geo" Chase, Jr. (he's not in frame this time, sorry guys ^^;), is coming in a contingency spacewalk to help her crewmate Lisa Mavericks and the German ESA Astronaut Ferdinand Skye, with a solution to a problem they had during their spacewalk! That's right, this is also a sequel to the pic I did in 2023 which you can check out right here, where they for some reason flubbed during their mission. It looks like Ferdinand is the one went all over the place with his emotion in this pic though, what with having a mermaid in a water-circulating spacesuit in front of him, handling a payload with her not-so-dextrous mechanical fingers worrying that it could slip off her hand's or Lisa's without some mitigation ^^;

And with some filling-in-the-blanks, this pic will also be a part of the Astronaut Classroom story I'm writing with one of my long-time-audience and Parfait Patreon members MrGerudoMan, which as of this writing already has a fifth chapter, and it's Kai's first appearance on that chapter! Nothing much to really talk about the process since I've mostly laid it out on the WIP post on Patreon which you can check right here, but for the background, I think this is pretty much my first time doing the grabbing rails in a more tubular, curved view, whereas in the past I've mostly made them straight. It was rather a brain exercise what with stacking multiple layers of polygons as a base, trimming a ring circle that it's made out of, It was a chore but thankfully manageable ^^;

But yeah, all the same, It's been a long while since the last time I draw Kai and she does indeed look amazing in this pic, and so the other two ^^

That's pretty much it, I hope spot and as always you guys liked it :D
