Phew, done a bit later than it's supposed to be, given the fresh theme I got here, one end reacted to this positively and I hope the other will so as well. Oh, and sorry for the lack of WIP post for this, This pic was done mainly on night time here and it's also a new theme and outfit for me to draw, I'll explain why. ^^;
Yup, we have yet another commission from the December slots I opened recently to start off the month, commissioned by one of my Parfait Patrons MrGerudoMan, which is supposed to also be a birthday pic for MyloYamato/DiverMylo on DA and X (Twitter), this time featuring the latter's Mike and the former's Carter, but also my OCs Geo on the left and Alan on the right, clad in the armors worn by the Paladins, a term for pilots of a lion-styled mechs featured in a 2016 animated series on Netflix, Voltron: Legendary Defender, by DreamWorks Animation and World Events Production! This series is one of Mylo's favorite ones and as a surprise, MGM thought of having our OCs as Voltron Paladins, with this shot in particular showing them walking around the corridor at the Castle of Lions having some chat during a break in between duties!
There is also a version of this pic with these guys fully suited up with helmets from the series on, and their Bayards, which is the multifunctional variable weapon used by the Paladins, on their hands, available as an alternative version for Parfait members on Patreon which you can check right here (make sure you pledge to that tier!)
As for the process, yeah, again one of the reason there were not WIP post for this is that Voltron Paladin suit is a new one for me, so obviously this had to be done from scratch, and so does the base bodies a bit. This is one of the rare occasion where I did a walking pose, specifically for the human one, so I indeed had to retrain myself for it and so far I think the result for it and the suit is good enough. There were some edits made in the last minutes though, specifically the shoulder pads, which I thought were angled in the front but then noticed when I looked up the series' official reference that it's actually curved. At first I thought not to bother, but then it already hung my mind so edits were hastily made. ^^;.
And finally the background, I initially thought of putting them just in some kind of a generic futuristic space station corridor with the earth orbit view seen through it's windows, given this series involves space in some parts, but then I asked the commissioner if he had any suggestion and gave me some shots from the series which I think describes the scene better and matches the canon, and I went with the corridor Paladin's operation base Castle of Lions, as it looks easier and fit's the scene we had for me personally. Figuring out the right proportion for the pillar is a bit trickier though because, while I got the shot of people walking around the corridor on the series for scale, It's not quite this exact part of the corridor, But then after some measuring by hand I found out that most of the adult characters in the series is as tall as half of the pillar, So I'm going with that. The rest is, thankfully, a bit simpler ^^
Overall, liking the pic's result so far and I just can't get over how cute Geo look as a Voltron Paladin XD X3
Thanks for the order, MrGerudoMan, And I hope you, MyloYamato, and as always you guys, liked it :D
