[Art Gift] Working on the Fly
Added 2023-09-27 02:28:28 +0000 UTCAlright, another one without a WIP post intended to be a surprise (almost because I teased this one to the recipient already). There will be one more earlier next month though so bear with me and stay tuned. For now, gotta keep this short before the calendar is flipped in the US past the intended date XD
That's right, we have another art gift here to take a break from commissions for a moment, and it's another one for the birthday of one of the Parfait-tier patrons Sapphire1x7, actually it's been a long while I did a full-fledged drawing gift for him, the first one will be up as a part of classics later, but this time, I thought of coming up with some silly idea with Scion Takahashi, his big tech nerd OC floating above and around the earth orbit clad in the Shuttle-ISS EMU spacesuit and riding an MMU, doing some serious work on a ThinkPad mounted to his chest! You know this is close to an idea I had in mind of a human satellite, where an EVA personnel is tasked of just being a satellite receiving and transmitting data of some sort, with a solar panel and an antenna attached to their jetpack, and a computer of some sort to review the data. But for this one, let's just say that Scion just wanted to have some peace while working with his laptop by suiting up and taking it with him to the vacuum XD
Anyways, the process. Yeah it's no secret that sometimes I can finish a drawing rather quickly because I just reuse my old drawings as a base, just like this one which used my EMU template, but figuring out how to mount the ThinkPad is the real challenge with the short amount of time remaining to get the whole pic done. I initially thought of adding another bracket on the bottom of the mini-workstation attached to the DCM specifically for this laptop, but at the same time wanted the assembly to be foldable, so I modified the mini-workstation base to have the swivel stick that holds the smaller equipment you guys might saw in my earlier EMU pics, act as the mounting bracket for the laptop. This also allows the full-view of DCM while keeping the mini-workstation mounted to the suit, a best of both worlds solution, you can say. Otherwise nothing special up to the exporting process except that I forgot to add his retractable tether last minute before posting and I had to re-export everything including the alternative version (Parfait patrons, rejoice!), and here we are ^^
Liking how the pic came out so far and I hope Sapphire and as always you guys too as well :D
