Mobile vs. PC: Bridging the Divide with Precision and Adaptability

In our quest to redefine user interface (UI) design across mobile and PC platforms, we prioritize aesthetic elegance and seamless functionality. Drawing from personal experiences of UI frustrations, our vision is clear: to craft an experience that is visually appealing and plays smoothly on both platforms.

Our approach leverages a unified system, PC versions may experience awkward zooms, and mobile versions will enjoy enhanced usability—the trade-off is strategic.

MOBILE

PC (awkward zooms) the same code.

Test Case Study: NIKKE

For mobile, we're innovating with the visual novel (VN) format, optimizing character display to utilize screen space efficiently. This involves scripting that aligns dialogue flow with visual transitions, offering a cohesive narrative experience. The PC version, inspired by "NIKKE: Goddess of Victory," will have subtler movements but maintain the essence of dynamic motion.

MOBILE

Why not animate the sprites?

Addressing the ambition for animated sprites, we face practical limitations. With a roster of over 12 characters, 1 sprite each, and a plan for Nina's forms, 31 sprites for all, and 2 outfits for her, that is, 74 sprites, including animations and expressions, full animation isn't feasible. However, simplifying sprite complexity allows us to expand our character lineup, enhancing game diversity without straining resources. Less per character, more characters, as Nina is 31 forms.

The Good, The Great, and the Pretty.

The game's emphasis on transformations will further streamline sprite design, enabling a broader array of in-game changes. This decision simplifies development for mobile, makes strategic use of zooming, and ensures both versions maintain high visual quality. Initial simplifications in Version 1 aim to accelerate development, ensuring a polished, engaging experience across platforms.

TL;DR

In essence, our development strategy is rooted in a commitment to excellence, balancing aesthetic aspirations with practical realities to deliver a game that excels on both mobile and PC. While inspired by what works, we still don't have... Nikke levels of development. yet...
