Nokken Boyfriend: Pascal (complete)

For a long time I let things that bothered me be forgiven, and I took annoyances with a grain of salt. I wanted to be friendly, to be kind, but I let people get the better of me, and it became too much to bear. I snapped, and afterwards I left home. I needed to get away and be by myself for a while.

I finally found a place that made me feel at home. The lake was beautiful, large and crystal-clear, with so many lilies floating on the surface it looked like a dream. I could step into the waters and feel myself vibrate all over. The waters made me feel safe, as if I had chosen the right place to be.

I had started to make it my home when I realized I wasn’t the only one the lake called to. Deep under the surface, lurking in the shadows and muck, was another creature who was vicious and cruel. He too resided in the lake, and he felt he owned it. Once he learned I was there, he was having none of it.

The Nokken revealed himself to me one evening, near the edge of the lake, in the fetching shape of a naked man. He knew the right thing to lure a Naiad like me, and I fell for it. He had soft, pale skin and long white hair that cascaded down his perfect body. He held his arms open to me, and I fell into them, giving him kisses until he bit me.

He began laughing, and as I stepped away he shifted into his true form before my eyes.  He became nearly white, and his long hair flowed around him like he was still underwater. His limbs became long and thin, and  his chest and shoulders broadened. His eyes slanted and turned pitch-black, and his mouth grew jagged and frightening. Finlike ridges formed down the backs of his arms and legs, and spines grew down his back. He stood, looming over me.

He was a Nokken. My mother had warned me about them, how they lured people to the edges of lakes and dragged them under. Sometimes they played the violin so beautifully that even nymphs and naiads like us were taken in by their treachery.

“Go on home, little naiad. Fuck off from here,” he sneered.

I was ready to turn and run then, but I remembered the reason I came here. I was done being bossed around, so I stood my ground and scowled up at him. “This lake is big enough for us both! I don’t ask for much, I just want this corner.”

His scowl became much worse. “I didn’t ask, I told. Nay, I commanded.”

I crossed my arms defiantly and stood my ground. “You can’t own this lake, nor can you command me, Nokken. You should consider yourself lucky a naiad of my caliber even wants to bless this lake!”

His eyes widened as his lip curled up over his horrible teeth. “A naiad like you? And what exactly is that?” he hissed in my face. “Are you some elder? Some legendary pussy?”

I reached up and slapped him without hesitation. “You’ll never know!”

He started laughing, throwing his arms and shoulders back while guffaws rang from deep within his chest. “Mark my words, little naiad, you will not make a home here long. I will see you gone from my lake. Good luck trying to find a human foolish enough to come to you when you need a warm bed.” He licked his chops with a bright red tongue. “I’ll see to it you either leave or beg for me to end your misery.”

“And I’ll see to it you’ll be begging me for my legendary pussy!” I hated myself for saying that, but I honestly couldn’t think of a better retort at the time. I was agitated, a little scared, and horribly put off by his comments.

I tried to avoid him as best I could, but one afternoon I was picking lilies and he dragged me under the water. After a struggle he shoved me back on land and collected the plucked lilies. “I grew these!” he bellowed at me. “You touch them again and I will kill you! I didn’t like you before, but now you’ve gone and written your own fate!”

“You could have told me.” I rolled my eyes as he vanished under the water.

The Nokken brought more and more mild irritations each day. He would knock over my pots, muddy the shore by my house, send dead fish to pollute my clean air. I brushed it all off as best I could. Sometimes, I could hear him playing his violin, and while I am loath to say it, it was perhaps the most beautiful sound in the whole world.

I learned from the humans in the local village that his name was Pascal, and for the right offerings and sacrifice, he would teach the violin to them - though Pascal was more apt to drag them to their watery grave than teach them anything. As such, humans by the lake were a rarity, especially alone.

I was able to lure a few hunters in the woods with my singing, taking them to my den, where we made love loudly and passionately. It was the only thing I could think of to annoy Pascal the way he aggravated me.

Last night, I was taking a young man who was out late to my home. We didn’t quite make it into my house over his eagerness. We lay on the shore, and while his blonde head was between my thighs, I was unaware we were being watched. Pascal slithered from the lake and came up right beside us. I saw him and smashed the man’s head between my legs so he couldn’t see.

“Get out of - ah - here,” I moaned at Pascal. “Go away!”

Pascal smirked, looking at me and then at the man suffocating between my legs. “I just wanted to see the legendary one in action. I hope you don't mind.”

The man forced his head up with a gasp. “I’ll return. Just let me catch my breath.”

Pascal snapped in his face, screaming horribly. The man instantly ran, shambling half-naked through the woods while howling with abandon. “Look what you’ve done!” I snapped.

“I saved you,” he jested sneeringly. “From a pathetic lay.” He laughed, quite pleased with himself, as he made his way back to the water.

I chased after him. “You have no right!”

He whipped around to glare at me. “This is my home!” He slammed his palm against his chest. “This is my lake, and you made yourself a squatter here. I have every right to do as I please in my own home.”

“You really think that, don’t you? Well, I’m not letting you get away with it! Every time you chase a human from me, I will do the same.”

“Well this place will earn a reputation then won’t it?” he laughed. “Get a boner, and then die at the lake. Little naiad, think clearly. Go home. You do not belong here.”

“I do if I say I do!” I snapped at him.

He scoffed and shrugged his broad shoulders. “Tiny thing you are, even with your plumpness protecting you, you’re still a vulnerable creature.” He leaned down over me. “I have dragged men twice your size under these waters. You and your flaccid thighs would be nothing to me.” He bears his teeth to me. “And do not think that juice-spewing peach between those thighs can lure me. I have no need for it.”

“I never would offer myself to you anyway! I bet you don’t have anything worth offering me.” I thrust my little finger up into his face. “I’ve been with men five times your size.”

Pascal took my pinky into his mouth, biting the tip before his tongue coiled around it. “Five times my size would kill you. Shove that pinky up your ass, or I will.” He slinked back into the waters, his hair floating among the lilies before it vanished completely into the depths.

The confrontation left me feeling more aggravated than before, because for a moment - just the tiniest flash of time - Pascal had aroused me.

I knew Pascal didn’t want any of the humans knowing the proper way to ask for him to teach him violin. So, to seek my own revenge, I spread the information. I whispered the secrets to those I could, asking them to to pass it along to anyone who would be interested.

Much to Pascal’s dismay, more and more people approached him to ask him to teach them to play. They left their offerings and sacrifices by the edge of the lake, meaning Pascal could not drag them under like he wanted.

One evening, he caught me watching him teach a lesson. Once it was done, he came over to me with a wicked scowl. “You did this,” he hissed at me.

I brush my hair, letting the short curls bounce and wave against my cheeks. “I told you I wouldn’t stand idly by.”

Pascal slapped my hand and knocked my brush into the water. “Do you understand how much I loathe humans? How much they repulse me?”

“Then why eat them?” I demanded. I slipped into the water to fetch my brush.

Pascal snarled, arching his lip over his teeth. “You have no idea idea what you are doing. Leave this place now!”

“No!” I barked up at him. “You leave! Go to some pond in a cave where the humans won’t bother you.” I jabbed the brush into his chest.

Pascal grabbed my wrist. “The next human that comes here will be left dead before you, so you’d best call them off.”

“Get off me!” I shoved him back.

Pascal stumbled, and when he recovered he tried to grab me. I slipped from his clutches and threw my fist into his jaw. He laughed, rubbing the sore spot. “Little naiad, that was a mistake.”

“You’re the mistake!” I ran at him, tackling him to the ground, both of us thrashing and fighting. My robe fell open, and I sat upon him basically naked. I saw a shift in his eyes, and the pitch black became more like the night sky. There were thousands of shimmering stars there.

I was breathing hard and glaring down at him, feeling a sudden need that had lain dormant in me. Pascal had kept me from doing what is natural to my people, and my need had grown to a point that I was considering even him as a viable partner.

“You do this,” he snarled, “and you know you’ll have to leave.” His smile grew and he arched his hips. “Go ahead, take me. Fuck me. You know you want to.”

I slapped my hand over his mouth. “You’re only saying that because you want me.” I removed my clothing and sat on top of him naked. My skin glistened with water, and I knew I looked more than just appetizing.

Pascal nipped at my hand and took my thumb into his mouth. Hissing, he gyrated his hips until I felt him roll against my thigh. “I’ll choke you,” I warned. My breathing was emerging in shallow pants. I could feel the fire in my loins burning through my chest. “You’d best stop.”

Pascal chuckled deeply, and I could feel the rumble in his chest vibrate between my legs and up my spine. “I can feel the juice of your peach running down my stomach. You have no right to talk.”

I bit my lip as I tried to keep my thoughts in order. “You’re as hard as an oak.” I lifted myself just enough, taking his cock between my legs and rubbing myself against it. He has ridges all the way down, and the glans flared. He began to moan as we touched directly, and as he breathed I lost my wits for a moment.  I took Pascal inside me, riding him with a wild, lust-fueled abandon. His hands slipped up along my thighs, digging sharply into my flesh. I kept my hand around his mouth as I moved, gasping and mewling as I was brought over the edge in pleasure. Pascal felt so remarkably good inside, I almost forgot I couldn’t stand him. His eyes were beautiful, and his long hair spilling along the ground was almost angelic. His back arched in pleasure as he drove himself deeper into me. I wanted more, and I needed it harder. I’d never felt a lust like this before.

Once I was spent and Pascal had his release, the night was quiet. “Oh my, what did you do?” he whispered into my ear. “Is that what you wanted all this time? All you needed to do was ask?”

I swung at him, and he dodged my fist. He moved down, placing himself between my legs. His long red tongue slithered inside me, rippling while my back levitated off the ground. I gasped and whined, pulling at his hair. He laughed again when he was done. “See? You respond too honestly. But I won’t let you have me again so easily.”

I grabbed a fistful of his hair and pulled so he fell to the ground. “You gave in too easily. You wanted it more than me.” I could still see the stars in his eyes, and I found them beautiful. “You know you lost tonight.”

He grinned. “Didn’t we both? Aren’t we equal?”

I kissed him just to shut him up. I couldn’t stand the sound of his voice any longer. We fucked again, and when I woke in the morning I was pleasantly sore but horribly disappointed with myself.

After that, things between us became quiet. He stopped pestering me, and I managed to curb the influx of future violinists. We left each other alone, but for some reason even that vexed me.

I heard him playing the violin one evening. As I stepped from my house, I saw him out in the water. His long hair flowed all about him, and the stars in his eyes glowed. I wasn’t going to go to him, because I had a feeling that was what he wanted. I hid inside my home, listening to the beautiful music he played. When it stopped, something hard struck the outside wall.

“I know you’re in there! Get out!”

I stormed from my home to see him hurling dead fish at me. I slapped one away as he threw it. “Go back to your violin! It’s the only thing you’re good at!”

He smirked at me. “You know that’s not all I’m good at, little naiad.”

“Are you trying to piss me off?”

“I don’t need to try, apparently.” He scowled and stood stiffly in the water. “I’ve barely seen you at all. Are you really so upset by what happened?”

“I haven’t seen you,” I shot back. “What about your own shame?”

He scoffed and tilted his head to the side. “Is it shameful because we did it twice? Three, if you count what my tongue did.”

My body was growing warm as I remembered the pleasure I had taken that night. “No,” I whispered.

“I don’t like you here,” he growled. “But I also don’t like you not being here.” He shook his head. “It’s stupid. Is that what you wanted? To put me in such a confused state?”

“You don’t like me,” I huffed. “You had a chance before and you kept scaring off the humans and leaving dead fish at my door.”

He arched his brow. “You had those vile humans come to me, and I couldn’t deal with them the way I like.”

“Then why stay here, so close to humans?” I snapped. “You don’t need them, do you?”

“This lake is mine, I told you.” He surged towards me with a glare. “If they cannot not respect me, then I will not let them know peace until they understand. I gave them chances too.”

“Pascal,” I whispered, “did they hurt you?”

Pascal scowled and remained quiet.

“That’s why I came here. Because I was hurt,” I confessed. “Or is it just because you’re a Nokken that you hate them so?”

“Either leave, or stop hiding,” he sneered. “It makes you look like a coward, and I will not be having you look like a coward. It will make me seem weak too.”

I smiled at him. “Remember when I had you on your back and mounted you? Does that seem cowardly?”

His eyes narrowed. “I don’t need to remember.”

“Neither do I.” I stepped closer to him and placed my hand on his chest. “It was beautiful, wasn’t it?” I moved my hand to his face.

Pascal bt my thumb between his sharp teeth as he glared down at me. “I won’t let you win again, little naiad. Next time, I will take your peach and eat it.”

“Avra,” I said with a giggle.

His brows pinched.

“My name.” I pulled my thumb from his mouth. “You keep calling me ‘little naiad’. You might as well know my name so you can shout it next time.”

Pascal leaned over me, pressing his forehead to mine. “I will call you as I please.”

I closed my eyes and let him kiss me. I pressed close to his body, wrapping my arms around him as he pulled me into the water. He floated on the water between the lilies, and kept his eyes shut and I lay on his chest. “You grow the lilies?” I asked softly.

“They bring me peace and joy,” he said. “They are the tiniest glimmer of beauty in the world I enjoy.”

I placed a soft kiss on his chest. “That is remarkably sweet, especially for you.”

He splashed water on me with a smirk. “Be quiet and enjoy the fact I am not going to kill you yet.”

I kissed his chest again before resting my cheek there. “You know you lost.”

I’m not sure what changed, or if it had always been lingering there, but our rivalry ended then. We continued to play coy, never really saying it out loud, but we both knew that there was something much more between us.

One quiet evening, while Pascal was out hunting, I was alone in my den, content and slowly drifting off to sleep. I thought I heard something outside, but I brushed it off as nothing. I rolled over in bed, snuggling down and looking forward to the rain that was coming tomorrow.

The door to my den was ripped open, and in an instant I was snatched and taken from my bed. I was dragged outside and tossed to the ground, where a small mob was standing in wait. They carried torches for light, and some had weapons. I cowered down, covering myself and waiting for the worst. I was kicked in the stomach, and I nearly vomited. “That’s her! That’s the one I saw breeding with the Nokken!” I heard someone shout.

I tried to scramble up, but they were surrounding me. Someone must have seen Pascal and I together, and in their minds they couldn’t accept another Nokken in the area. I was pulled up from the ground by my hair, and I cried out in pain.

“We need to get rid of them before they start multiplying! Kill her, then we’ll kill the Nokken.” The voices all started to rise. It was hard to keep track of what they were saying, but everything was frightening.

Everything writhing out of control inside me. The fear overwhelmed the pain from their blow. I screamed and thrashed, baring my teeth as they tried to come near me. They ripped my hair out in fistfuls, and I hissed, clawing at them. I raced away, heading towards the waters. I was almost under the surface when they had me again.

Just as they were pulling me towards the bonfire they built, I heard violin music. Everything stopped and silence fell around us as Pascal played his music. I saw him rise from the waters, pale and beautiful. His glare was fixed, and he pulled the box against the strings violently.

“Run away!” I screamed, pulling at the hands holding me. “You have to get away! Go now!”

I was shoved to the ground again, and Pascal lurched. The violin screeched like a cat and his fangs protruded from his mouth. His body surged forward, his shoulder curling in towards his chest. His ropy arms tensed as he advanced. “Let her go. It’s me you want. She poses you no harm.” Spittle flew from his lips.

“Just go!” I whimpered. I reached out and my fingertips touched to the water. “Please. I can’t watch you die.”

Pascal roared louder than I had ever heard. The sound shook the trees and rattled the bones of the men. I pulled at the water, bringing it to me. It flooded the ground, coming up to their ankles. They screamed and tried to escape but I forced the water upon them. Some got away, but the few I captured had their fates sealed. I brought the water close and made it heavy while Pascal reached for them. He dragged them under without a second thought. Then he rose back up, taking me into his arms.

“I’ll kill them all!” he snarled. “I’ll kill every last one of them.”

“No!” I gasped. “They’ll send more, they’ll come for us.” I held his face between my palms. “They think we’re mates.” I held him close, not ever wanting to let go. I was still shaking. I wanted this feeling to end. “I know this is your home, but we have to run! They won’t stop until we’re both dead.”

He picked me up, carrying me. In the distance we could hear shouting and see fire. They were coming back with even more people. Pascal placed me over his shoulder, changing into a great white horse. He charged through the woods while I clung to his back.

We stopped at daybreak. It had begun to rain and was pouring heavily. I could tell he was exhausted and growing even weaker. Without the lake, or another body of water, he would grow sick and die. I would be able to last a little while, so I would have to protect him now.

“It’ll be alright,” I reassured him. “We’ll find a new home.”

He let out a cry of agony and beat his fists against the ground. “That was my home! Why now? Why not kill me before?” he raged.

“Pascal,” I pleaded. “It’s okay, I’m so sorry!”

He looked up at me, the stars in his eyes are glowing. “Come close,” he whispered. He kissed me with rain on his tongue. “Do not apologize. I would have killed them all for you.” He smoothed my wet hair out of my face. “Are you hurt?”

“I’m fine, really,” I whimpered. “I’ll find you a new home, I promise.”

Pascal’s arms locked around me as rain continued to fall upon us. “I’m just glad you’re here.”

I made him sit down in the roots of a tree, where rain had gathered. “Stay here,” I tell him. “I’m going to find you something to eat. Hopefully I can find a river or something.”

He kept hold of my hand. “Please, be careful.”

I went out into the rain, capturing frogs to give him. I looked everywhere, hoping to find a body of water. Even if it was for a short period of time, I didn’t want Pascal to grow ill. I returned to feed him, and already he was looking sluggish and grey. I left him to rest after he ate, wanting him to conserve his energy.

I ran through the rain, looking for any signs of a place to live. As I struggled to keep my morale up, I saw someone through the rain. She came down from a tree, her long green hair flowed like vines over the ground.

“Sister Naiad, are you lost?” The dryad approached me.

“I am,” I gasped, grasping her outstretched hand for comfort. “Tell me, is there water near here? Safe water?”

She pointed into the distance. “Beyond the pine trees is a field  with a river running through it. The river goes through a cave on either end. It offers safety, if you need it.”

I hugged her in gratitude and raced back to gather Pascal. It took us a long time to reach the river. He was slow and weak. Once we found the field, I saw the stars in his eyes shine again. He gasped in gratitude at the river, which cut through a valley thick with wild flowers. It was massive, coursing over large stones in white currents. As I helped him ease into the water, he never let go of my hand.

The cold of the river clung to his skin, so when he touched me it sent shivers down my spine. As he recovered in the waters, he rose up to kiss me. His lips pressed against mine, and he moaned softly into my skin. He chuckled, grinning as he pulled back.

“What’s that look?” I asked.

“Those idiots thought we were mates? How stupid can they be? Are they blind?” He kissed me again, running his fingers through my wet hair. “You taste so sweet.”

I whimpered softly as his lips ran down my neck. “You need to build your strength back up, Pascal.”

“Avra,” he moaned against my breast. “My strength is fine.” He climbed out the river and laid me in the wildflowers. His kisses traveled down my body, opening my thighs so his tongue lapped over the flesh there.

“Pascal, wait,” I panted. “I’m cold.”

His tongue pressed between my soft folds, finding the core of me hot and eager. His eyes flicked up to me, the stars brighter than ever. “Then let me warm you, little naiad.” His fingers slipped inside me, while his lips and tongue focused on the sensitive bud above my folds.

The rains began to slow, and the ground was covered in a thick mist. I shivered all over, not from the chill in the air, but from his touch. He moaned against me as he gobbled me up. His fingers made a wet, squelching sound inside me, and he lifted his head and rose up between my thighs.

As he lay on me his shaft slapped against my belly. I locked him between my thighs as I gazed up at him. His long hair fell around us, drying despite the rain. My heart was hammering so fast. I was so relieved we were safe that I could wait no longer.

“You are not my mate,” he whispered. I touched his face, letting his nip each fingertip. “You are my life.” He slipped inside me, moving his hips slowly.

I cried out, gasping for breath as the world began to quake. I held tightly to him, gasping for air as his movements became harder and faster. He pushed my legs back, nearly bending me in half. I cried out in elation, feeling him go deep inside me.

As the sun broke through the clouds, my skin warmed with the dew of the flowers. I felt him thrust inside me while his voice became deeper and more labored. I could barely catch my breath, arching off the ground with a spasm as he shook. Inside me was a torrent, fire meeting fire. He pushed deeper, making sure every drop of himself was left in me.

As he pulled away slowly I felt a cool breeze flow between us. I gasped softly, tears in my eyes as I gazed up at him. There was nothing more beautiful than the stars in his eyes at the moment.

“You lost this time,” he chided, falling to my side. He let me use his arm as a pillow while he trailed his fingers down my skin. I felt raw and exposed all over, but his touch made me feel safe and secure.

“Did I?” I hooked my leg around his hip. “I am your life.”

He kissed me, pressing me down into the wildflowers again. He smiled as he looked at me, his eyes trailing over my body. “Stay with me,” he whispered. “If it pleases you.”

“It would please me greatly.” I sat up to look over the river and the valley. As the sun shone upon it, I saw countless flowers all around us. Pascal wrapped his arms around me, smiling into my hair as we took in our new home.

“They will never make me run again,” he growled. “From now until forever, this is home.” His hand cupped my chin. “For both of us.”
