Vampire Boyfriend: Thaddeus (complete)

The clinic looks very sterile from the outside, all white stone, flat, sleek, and unassuming. The big red sign out front is the only thing that stands out, and otherwise one could easily walk by without paying it much attention. You have to wait to be admitted by the staff, and if you don’t have an appointment or seem suspicious at all, you aren’t let inside. Several extreme factions have tried to make their opinions of the place known, and the safety of the physicians and patients is paramount.

The clinic is run completely by vampires, and was started by Dr. Leeche, whose studies helped her discover that vampires aren’t just parasites or predators to humans, but are capable of helping them. She started a school to educate humans and vampires alike in the medical benefits of cohabitation, which eventually led to this unassuming clinic.

Your aunt has been working in complementary medicine for most of her life. She was raised as a witch, but being a rebellious teen she bucked the family trade and went to medical school. She became disheartened with how the field could end up treating people, and slowly integrated her background with her schooling. She believed in both sides of medicine, the clinical and the natural. You’ve been working at her practice for some time now. She supported you through college, and has been your mentor since you were little. She sees promise in you, and she wants to foster your healing talents as much as she can.

“I think if we could at least talk to the higher-ups at Dr. Leeche’s, we could understand their minds a little. Many of their practices are alternative.” She’s fretting a bit because business has been slow, but she’s been an admirer of Dr. Leeche’s for a long time and wants to collaborate with her idol.

“I know, I know. We need to be patient. They’ll get back to us eventually.” You’ve been preparing several ideas to share with the clinic, mainly classes to help people better understand their health, but also things like natural birth, hormone therapy, and therapeutic massage. You would like a doctor from your aunt’s practice and a doctor from the vampire clinic to collaborate on each field, creating a relationship between the two.

One afternoon you’re covering the front desk as the receptionist tends to an emergency with her child, when a call comes in from a restricted number. You figure it’s just another robot call, and take it ready to hang up. “Lady of the Ivies Natural Health, how may I help you?”

“Yes, I’m Dr. Talbot from Dr. Leeche’s Clinic.” The voice on the other end is smooth and buttery. It’s a pleasant surprise, considering you’d been expecting automated spiel about insurance. “I’m responding to Dr. Ivy’s inquiry. Might I speak to her?”

“I’m a Dr. Ivy. I’ve been helping my aunt on this project,” you reply. “If you don’t mind, I can help with whatever questions you might have.”

“Why is the office called Lady of the Ivies when there are two Lady Ivys about?” Dr. Talbot says with a gentle chuckle. “I’m sorry, bad joke.”

“It’s alright. I don’t mind a bad pun or two.” You clear your throat, reminding yourself to remain professional. “But my aunt and I really look forward to the prospect of working with your clinic.”

“To be honest, Dr. Ivy, my colleagues and I aren’t sure about such a collaboration. Natural health is all well and good, but we fear our clients might see it as, forgive the term, bunk.”

You’re a bit miffed, but it’s nothing you haven’t encountered before. “We expect that, but aren't most of your services at the clinic quite natural?”

“I don’t mean to pry here, but have you ever visited our clinic, Dr. Ivy?” Dr. Talbot asks.

“I haven’t.”

“Then why don’t I make a special appointment for you, and then you can make one for me? That way we can see each other’s practices up close to form an opinion.”

You furrow your brow. “Are you a vampire, Dr. Talbot?”

“I am,” he chuckles. “I know what you’re going to say. I’m a vampire, how can you possibly help me with anything natural? Well, if you must know, I have very sensitive skin, and I would like to find something to treat it. The medicated cream I get now is… I hate it. It’s disgusting! Smell, texture, everything. Maybe your practice can suggest a more pleasant treatment. What do you say?”

You smile, feeling like you’re slowly working your way in. “Dr. Rosemund is our dermatology expert. I can get an appointment set up with her right away.”

“Wonderful. Now what about you, Dr. Ivy? My specialty here at the clinic is pain management, but I provide basic services too. Is there anything you have complaints about that I could help you with?”

“Perhaps birth control options?” You’ve not exactly had a need for such a thing lately, but you’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews from others about the clinic’s methods. You are extremely curious.

“Very well, then. I can get you in for an initial  consultation on Thursday around one o’ clock. Would that work for you?”

“I’ll be off that day, so it’s perfect.” You check the computer. “Dr. Rosemund can do an appointment on Friday.”

“Can anyone  see me later in the day? Preferably after six? I know it’s asking a lot, but as I said, my skin is very sensitive.”

“I think I can work something out with her. I’ll give you a call back to confirm, alright? What’s your number and first name?”

“Thaddeus,” he says, then gives you a number to reach him by. “Thank you, Dr. Ivy. I look forward to meeting you.”

“Same to you. Have a great day.” It doesn’t occur to you until you hang up that, as a vampire, it is quite possible that Dr. Talbot is exceedingly beautiful. Pearly skin, white hair, ruby eyes - and with a voice like that, he’s already a charmer. But as for you… Going through medical school, your chubbiness felt like something that had to be constantly addressed. You worked out, dieted, and barely lost weight. Everyone on your father’s side is heavy like you. It just seems to run in the family.

Your aunt is so excited about the call, and together you talk with Dr. Rosemund to allow Dr. Thaddeus Talbot an evening visit. When Thursday rolls around, you’re both nervous. You’ve brought along some prepared information to give to Dr. Talbot so he can share it with his colleagues, and you’re ready to take notes if needed.

The waiting room is very nice, much better than the sterile and unassuming face of the building. The chairs are comfortable, there are books as well as magazines laying out, bowls of chocolates, and water coolers with infused waters along with tea bags, juices, and fruits.

“Dr. Ivy?” You look up from the water you’re pouring to the pretty nurse behind the desk. “Dr. Talbot will see you now.”

You finish your drink, then head towards the back. The nurse leads you down a narrow corridor to a room where you step up a level to get inside. The office is decorated nicely with soft, pale greens and hints of pastel pink. There’s comfortable furniture along with the usual doctor’s equipment.

As you take a seat, the nurse moves aside and Dr. Talbot enters. “Good afternoon, Dr. Ivy. Don’t get up.” He comes over to your seat and shakes your hand. His fingers are long and his palms thin, but his grip is strong.

“Nice to meet you.” You carefully watch his expression. His smile doesn’t falter, nor does the gleam in his eyes. He had a long, thin face with a sharp nose, high cheekbones, and downturned soulful eyes. His hair is plaited and pulled up into a bun to keep it from getting in the way. He has signs of vitiligo, patches of pearly pink and stark white on his hands and arms.

“Alright then!” He pulls up a chair and grabs a clipboard and pen. “So, you were curious about our birth control methods. What are you taking now?” He clicks the pen and sets it to the page.

“Abstinence?” You chuckle nervously. You’re used to being the doctor, not the patient. "Uh, nothing at the moment.”

“No need to be shy. You should know how this goes, Dr. Ivy.” He smiles up at you. “Is there a reason you want to go on birth control now? Menstrual management? Acne?”

“Curiosity. I’ve heard glowing reviews and I wanted to try your methods firsthand.”

Dr. Talbot nods. “Do you know our methods, then?”

Your face burns a bit. “I know they involve some intimate practice.”

“If that is what you prefer, we offer a wide variety of options,” he says. “But yes, that is what we are rather famous for. If you’d like to try them, I can schedule you another appointment.”

“With you?” Your voice cracks.

Dr. Talbot glances up from the clipboard. “Wouldn't that be best?”

You clear your throat. “Yes, that would be fine. Would my weight be an issue?”

“Not at all, in fact, I would recommend this option to you.” He scribbles on his clipboard some more. “I enjoy working with women very much. I always find something new to admire in them.” He looks at you with those dark ruby eyes and he smiles. “I take great pride in my job, and I never leave a patient unsatisfied or worried.”

You’re trying to focus, but his lovely face and words keep distracting you. “I’ve only ever heard good things about the clinic. It’s part of why my aunt and I want to work with you so badly.”

“I would jump at the chance to work with you, but I’m afraid we must go through the board and let them have a say. It’s so bureaucratic, it bores me to tears.”

You nod. “I understand. We fully expected this to be a long process.”

“Well, alright then. I think we should begin the examination. Enough talking for now.” He gets up and sighs. “This is part of my problem. Washing my hands so much, and I think these gloves exacerbate my problem.”

As you get situated on the examining table, he washes his hands. After that, it all becomes very clinical. After you get dressed, you exchange literature and you talk to him a little more about your ideas.

He takes to the idea of classes right away. “I think this would be a great way to collaborate as health practices - provide people a chance to learn about their health and how to decide what’s right for them. Most don’t understand the options they have.” Dr. Talbot looks at you with a smile. “These are all very well-thought-out. You’ve done your homework.”

You smile shyly. “Thanks. It means a lot to me. I got really passionate about it when the idea struck. I didn’t think much of it, but the more effort I put in...” You stop yourself and chuckle. “Sorry. You’ll see how long-winded I can be in the documents.”

“I doubt you’re as long-winded as the meetings we have to attend. Not to mention all the legal things that keep getting changed.” A defeated look comes over his face as he mentions this.

“Legal?” you ask. “You mean, about you being vampires here?”

He gives another heavy sigh. “We have to get new licenses and take special classes each year. They call us an extreme liability, but we’ve had no lawsuits from our patients, just protestors. No accidents. No reason to worry, except for...” He flexes his jaw. It opens from the edges of his mouth to his ears, with fleshy sheets of muscle spreading between the long rows of exposed teeth like sails.

“I understand,” you murmur. “My aunt and I are both witches. Our whole family is made of witches, actually. My aunt and I face all sorts of scrutiny for being doctors as well. Like you said when you first called, people tend to think natural health is bunk.”

“If it weren’t for natural health, we wouldn’t have the systems we do today. People tend to forget that’s how it all started.” He smiles at you and then laughs shyly. “Well, I think we’ve gabbed long enough. I’ll be seeing you at your office tomorrow. Will you be there, I mean? I know I’m meeting another doctor.”

You shake your head. “My aunt will be there tomorrow. She wants to talk with you as well. We thought it would be best that I handle this part.”

“Too bad,” he smirks. “I was rather enjoying talking with you today. Well, at last we can schedule up your next appointment and look forward to that.”

Your aunt fills you in on Dr. Talbot’s visit with Dr. Rosemund. She’s also had a very lengthy conversation with him.

“He’s a very charming man.” She sighs wistfully. “Are you liking him well enough?”

“I think he’s a good doctor. He made me feel comfortable during our visit. I’m looking forward to seeing his work at the next appointment.” You’re a bit shy to talk about it, but you know it’s all part of the clinic, nothing to be ashamed about.

“I offered him a job here,” your aunt says.

You nearly choke on your drink. “What? Why?”

“I could use someone like him here. He said he would consider it. I know, I know! We’re trying to work with Dr. Leeche’s, and I try to snipe one of her doctors. But I couldn’t help myself. Having him here would bring in more patients, and we’d be able to offer more services. It would be a boon.”

When your appointment comes around, you half-expect it to be canceled. After all, your aunt has overstepped a little, and it might not be professional anymore for Dr. Talbot to see you. But the appointment continues as planned, and you’re soon waiting in a robe for Dr. Talbot to come into his office.

The door opens and he saunters in. He sets his charts into a cubby by the door and removes his lab coat. “Good afternoon, Dr. Ivy,” he says with a smile. “Are you ready?”

“A little nervous,” you reply.

“I can help with that.” He dims the lights ever-so-slightly.

“Um, wait… Can we talk for a moment?”

Dr. Talbort glances at you. “Is something wrong?”

You frown slightly and glance down at your hands. “I don’t feel right about this. My aunt told me the offer she made you, and I’m not sure being your patient would be in my best interest at this time.”

“I was surprised by her offer, and even more that I wanted to accept. But I don’t think she understands the liability she would be taking on. It’s one of the reasons I’ve remained with Dr. Leeche for so long. I would start my own practice if I could, but it would be a lot to undertake.” He scratches behind his ear. “I don’t plan on accepting, so it’s alright if I continue to be your doctor.”

You’re a bit relieved, but you can’t help but feel disappointed. “Oh, I see,” you murmur.

“Did you have your hopes up?” He chuckles. He takes hold of your hand. “I would still enjoy doing the classes with you, even if it’s not in collaboration with the clinic.”

That makes you excited again. “That would still mean I shouldn’t be your patient.”

“How so?” Dr. Talbot asks.

“Well...” You bite your lip. “We’d have to work together, and possibly get close as colleagues to teach these classes.” You have difficulty keeping your train of thought as you look into his eyes. “It would be a conflict of interests, wouldn’t it?”

Dr. Talbot smiles softly. “You’re right. You’re much more aware than I am.” He stands up. “Well, if that’s the case… how about dinner tonight?”

Your cheeks burn. “What?”

He smiles back at you. “To discuss working together in the future, of course.”

“Oh, sure!” you gasp.

You trade phone numbers, and he texts you an address. After work, you go home to take a quick shower and change your clothes. Then you go to the restaurant, a cute little bistro that only serves what their garden grows. The menu changes daily, with a set meal served each evening.

You’re looking over the menu when Dr. Talbot comes in, wearing a blazer over a t-shirt tucked into his jeans. “Sorry I’m a little late.” His long hair hangs over his shoulder. You’ve never seen it down. It’s always been braided and pulled into a bun. “I’m still learning the routine Dr. Rosemund gave me.

“It’s OK. I was learning up about this place.”

As you follow the hostess to your table, Dr. Talbot puts his hand on the small of your back and pulls your chair out for you. His touch is gentle, and you appreciate his genteel manners. He even places his napkin in his lap. “I didn’t know vampires ate like this,” you say.

“The owner is a vampire, and he provides a special vampiric menu. I don’t always have to eat out to, uh...” he stops himself and grimaces. “Excuse me, I almost told a dirty joke.”

You smirk slightly. “Is that your real humor?”

“Sometimes humor is the best way to cope with some of the stresses of the job. Although I usually only share it with the other doctors.” He shakes his head. “I didn’t mean to go there with you. I’m trying to keep a good image in your eyes.”

“You are a good image, Dr. Talbot.”

He nips his bottom lip and laughs. “Why, thank you. That’s very kind. But please, call me Thaddeus.”

You end up having a long conversation with Thaddeus. He tells you about growing up poor in the industrial age, then meeting Dr. Leeche, who helped him further his education as a doctor. He asks you tons of questions about your upbringing, your witch heritage, and your three cats. He has two cats of his own.

The two of you plan another dinner, intending to discuss the classes you want to teach. When you meet again, after opening with that, you somehow end up discussing your love lives. Thaddeus admits to remaining single - it’s hard finding romance with his job, but he is a hopeless romantic. You confess to having a string of casual affairs, but nothing serious since school. You and your then-boyfriend had to break off your engagement due to conflicting dreams.

“As long as I’ve been alive, I have always wanted to get married,” Thaddeus sighs. “It seems silly to think about it now.”

“Why is that?” you ask.

“I just want to be with someone now,” he says. “Someone smart and beautiful, who is dedicated to her job.”

Your heart skips a beat. “Oh.”

“I was taught marriage was the ultimate endgame, but that’s not the case. Not anymore.” He reaches across the table. “I came to realize it matters more to love someone, and to be with someone who loves you back.”

“Thaddeus,” you murmur.

He lifts your hand and kisses your knuckles. “I would like to fall in love with you.”

“Why me?” The words just slip out. “I mean, certainly someone like you could have anybody they wanted!”

“Wouldn’t that include you?” He smiles and moves around the table to sit beside you. “Is there something wrong?”

You shake your head. “I like you too, but I guess I’m used to being looked over.”

Thaddeus slips his long fingers under your chin and lifts your head. He places a soft kiss upon your lips, and that’s all he wrote.

You end up bringing him back to your place, a garage apartment above your aunt’s house. Your cats all watch intently from the top of your wardrobe as you bring Thaddeus into your room. You stand on your tiptoes as you kiss him, running your fingers through his soft, sleek hair as you inch closer to the bed.

Thaddeus picks you up, much to your shock and surprise. His hands sink into your soft thighs as he carries you, before setting you down on your bed and crawling on top of you. He chuckles, kissing your cheek and neck. “You seem surprised.”

“I’m not usually the one who gets picked up.” You sigh, stretching your neck as his kisses descend.

Thaddeus moans softly against your skin, nipping your shoulder and nuzzling your neck again. “I wanted to change that.” He sits up and strips away his shirt, and you see the patches of vitiligo on his skin. You run your hands over his torso, slowly moving down until you unzip his pants. You move closer, kissing his stomach and the sharp protrusion of his hip bone. You tug his pants and underwear down until his cock springs up in front of your face.

“I’m not used to going first.” He eases you back down onto the bed. “I much prefer this.” He strips off your clothes down to your underwear. You’re a bit relieved you wore cute panties tonight.

His long fingers slip over the black lace, and his lashes flutter. He pushes open your thighs and kisses down your body, licking between your breasts and fluttering kisses over your soft belly. He nuzzles the front of your panties, then licks down the crotch. You flinch, gasping in surprise at the sensation. He rubs there, working you into an excited lather. Once your wetness seeps through the fabric, he pushes the panties aside. His tongue pushes through, slithering around until he kisses your labia. He moans against your flesh, slipping his fingers inside while he pampers your clit.

“Oh, wow...” You’re breathless. You’ve been given oral before, but nothing like this. Thaddeus takes his time; he savors, he’s patient. His skilled fingers work to find the pleasurable spots inside you, then gently coax every nerve to awaken.

You have no warning when the first wave comes. It floods through you and then crashes over you, rewarding Thaddeus’ efforts with squeezing walls and thick spurts of nectar. He licks his chops and rises from between your thighs with a smug expression.

“That’s what I enjoy - the satisfaction of my partner.” He wipes his mouth with the back of his hand. “Feeling the tightness and release never fails.”

You catch your breath and sigh. “That was so good! I’m still seeing spots.”

He kisses you, pressing his naked body against you. He removes your bra and snuggles between your soft breasts. “Are you ready for more?”

You feel his cock against your thigh. You reach down to wrap your fingers around his length, finding him hard and throbbing. He sighs into your ear as his sharp teeth graze against your skin. He moves into place, slipping inside while his teeth sink into your neck.

You cry out, latching your thighs tight around his waist. He moans against you, taking a deep drink as he moves within. His hips surge, pushing you against the bed until your head strikes the headboard. He pulls back, blood smeared on his lips and chin. His eyes glow red in the darkness as he keeps moving.

Deep inside you feel the waves begin to churn again. It doesn’t take long before you’re swept under. You grab hold of him, pulling him forward as his body pulses. He snarls and grunts, adding to the crashing waves within you.

He lies down, pulling you into his chest as your body relaxes and cools. You look up to see your cats inching closer to the bed to inspect Thaddeus. In the morning, they will be lying against him and purring, having accepted him into the home.

“You know,” Thaddeus sighs dreamily, “I wasn’t expecting this. I thought you’d have better taste than that,” he chuckles.

“What do you mean?”

He huffs. “I mean, what girl wants a creepy vampire?” He pets the cat lying on his chest.

You kiss his cheek. “Have you ever looked in a mirror?”

He grins at you. “Haven’t you heard the rumors?” He chuckles, rolling over to kiss you. Your cat complains at being moved, but darts to the end of the bed. As he pulls away he grins at you, stroking your cheek and moving your hair from your face. “I want to be with you as long as you want to be with me.”

“Yes,” you whisper. “I want that, too.”
