Please enjoy this smattering of inked pages from chapter one of DD4. Whoof, I thought I had posted more of these than I had! It’s been a busy few weeks.
“What am I looking at,” you ask?
Spoilers! The Nichols’ ship diverts to avoid the suspected pirate ship. As they near their island destination, DD’s mom notices a submerged rock barrier blocking entrance to the harbour. Delilah runs to notify the captain. He does not listen to her. He does not listen to her mom. The mole (“that is we would call it,” the captain explains) is not on the charts. And so, he runs straight into it. The ship is crippled. Men are fished out of the sea. It is, needless to say, an inauspicious arrival. How will the townspeople react?
“What are you so busy with, Cliff,” you ask?
Well, the baby is starting to scoot around on his tummy, it’s plant-planting season and there’s a lot of gardening to do, but most excitingly: podcast recording to promote BUBBLE, the graphic novel adaptation of the serial fiction podcast of the same name. The very funny Jordan Morris and Sarah Morgan wrote it, I comics-ed it up and drew the line art, and the talented Natalie Reiss did all the colour work.
This week I recorded with Alicia Tobin and Jessica Delisle for their RETAIL NIGHTMARES podcast, wherein we talked about London Drugs and being the mayor of Tiny Town. I also joined Jordan and Sarah for A BIT OF A CHAT WITH KEN PLUME, where we talked about how the pandemic is an elaborate PR stunt to promote BUBBLE. I’ll be sure to post links to all this nonsense when I can.
Speaking of BUBBLE, consider pre-ordering it! When it comes to books, preorders are always beneficial. Call up your favourite independent bookstore (if you can) and ask for it by name!
